He has been charged with attempted rape in New York.. pulled off a plane heading to France minutes before it took off.

Now standing in the dock being charged with attempted rape.

what a downfall.. and now his past comes back to haunt him..

he faced a disciplinary for a 'sexual' misunderstanding a few years ago

Are you sure? My instinct would be that he doesn't have any form of protection and the look on his face suggests that, if he did have immunity, he'd have invoked it.

well there are some in the EU who would want the whole corrupt gravy train to derail.

he was doing quite well politically and diplomatically with trying to do a 'top up' or complete new loan for Greece and perhaps Portugal who both look like defaulting on their original bail outs.

some want Greece kicked out but where do you stop then?

the whole political future of the EU is very tied up in the current financial state of several member countries.

Definitely sure. A BBC News article quoted the precise wording of the 1940's article.

And whereas Diplomats are limited to the single country where they act, Heads of world bodies are unlimited.

It is upto the IMF to claim the immunity, if required.

On an earlier article today on BBC Radio 2, comment was made that his nickname is something like "the rampant rabbit " ( in french ) as he is a known womaniser.

The article also stated that he had broken IMF rules some 6 years ago by having an affair with a married woman.

So,, ceratily a track record. An easy target if someone has tried to frame him.

Another woman has come forward saying that she was raped by him some years back.

Well he's been banged up in the notorious Rikers Island prison in New York. Authorities believe he will flee the country so haven't given him bail. I'd say that's pretty much diplomatic immunity stripped and he aint getting it back.

This man has few friends in Washington. He has criticised the lack of financial regulation in the USA and from memory was particularly scathing in the award winning documentary about the role of the USA in the worldwide financial crisis (Inside Job). More recently he has criticised the senior appointments with the Treasury because of their direct involvement in the opposition to introducing financial regulation in Wall Street not just up to 2008 but even very recently.

There are some pretty good reasons why some very big hitters would want this guy removed from office.

He was warned by Sarcozy to curb his letharious antics only last year. The hotel in which he allegedly committed this offence has experienced his antics in the past yet for some inexplicable reason (or due to the fact that he's a powerful rich man) they decided to sweep it under the carpet (probably paid the girls off). He's infamous in France as a serial sex pest and although it hasn't been proved in this case yet, it's looking more and more likely that he's finally gone too far.
