I used to work for a very well known drinks company (been mentioned a few times in this thread) and we used to get free vouchers to exchange for crates of the black stuff but a local offie used to let us swap it for spirits...we chose Taboo & Mirage coz we thought it was classy ....aged 19 in the the early 90s!!!

As a teen it was eleven teen pints of newkie brown......worst was probably 4 students going out in Sheffield. 2 lads (my cousin Wilf n me) and 2 lasses (Sue and Lorraine). Some idiot (ok it was Wilf) suggested that to make it easy to remember rounds we should all drink same drink all night. Suggestions in a hat....out came Southern Comfirt and Orange (cheers Sue!!!!).

27 rounds later 4 of us staggering back along Broomhall Road.....leaving a trail of pavement pizzas!

back in the late 80's I worked at the holiday camp where they filmed hi de hi..

it was my day off and me and a friend started drinking after lunch and were on it 9 hours straight, we didn't even stop to eat...

we were in her room, on her bed at 10pm when I felt an excruciating pain in my abdomen...it was the start of acute appendicitis

I was rushed to hospital but they couldn't operate until the alcohol was out of my system, so they put me on a bed in a side ward until I could sweat it out... they finally operated on me 18 hours later

Thunderbirds, peach concorde and black tower.

A cocktail was a 2ltr bottle of whatever we could (a group of friends) siphon from the drinks cabinets from home and not get caught. God only knows what was in that!

Cider was usually top of the list with the likes of merrydown,special K,diamond white,omega and electric white.

Never bothered about the taste we just got whatever was strongest!

Then your fortified wines,good old buckfast gets ye fucked fast

and not forgetting the mad dog 20/20

When I first started getting into boozers I drank Guinness for about a year n the odd snakebite n cheeky vimto before moving on to plain old lagers,tennants,Stella,Carlsberg,Kronenbourg etc etc...

As for spirits I drank most of them!

Went halfers on a bottle of mescal tequila with the maggot in with a mate n we both wanted to eat it so we cut it in half to be fair!

Got a bottle of absinthe once...that was enough!

rum,sambuca,ouzo,rumpleminz...

Can't touch gin or whisky anymore after severely poisoning myself downing a bottle of each on separate occasions!

At 19-20 I was drinking 2 70cl bottles of vodka every weekend....was getting it cheap at a fiver a bottle for knock off stuff,I'm surprised I'm not blind!

Don't drink a massive amount these days but when I do it's Kopparberg cider,tasty stuff!

Any old lager,usually Stella or some other foreign beer,rolling rock,tiger,sol...

Vodka is my main spirit of choice as it tastes ok,specially with irn bru.

Also the lighter/clearer your spirit is the less of a hangover it gives you...fact!

Seems like most of us here are about the same age

I started off on woodpecker or lambrini before Youth Club

Then when I started going out to pubs it was pretty much anything with black....lager, cider, rum, pernod. Then moved on to cans of breakers AND blue moons. Tried everything in between - MD 20/20, cinzano, whisky, gin, Bacardi, diamond white, taboo AND mirage, and so on.

I drank lowenbrau as a kid but I like all sorts these days from a dram of whiskey to red wine to Stella to a cider.... Depends on my mood and weather
