You can't beat a fish supper. Freshly fried with no salt or vinegar added (do it yourself when you get home or when the delivery arrives) and with a proper gobstopper of a chipshop onion.

Washed down with Irn Bru it's quite simply the food of the gods.

Or what about a Pie Supper?

That's where confusion could arise.

D'ye mean a round pie supper (very popular in certain neighbourhoods) or an ashet pie supper (perhaps thought of as being a wee bit upmarket)?

I think we should be told

Well, if you visit the chippy just off the Milngavie town square en route to one of the better G postcode dogging sites, the chances are the default setting for a pie (or peh, for our Dundonian colleagues) will be round.

Deep frying a round pie takes skill. It's a fine line between cooking the mutton centre whilst not burning the pasrty case. Years of deep frying pizza might assist in this task.

Plaice in breadcrumbs with chips (but not those horrid chunky cut things).

Gravy on chips is just plain wrong!!

So is mayo on chips. Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

The only thing chips should be wearing is salt & vinegar.
