Please take care when you take your doggies a walk if rock salt has been put down. Your dog will clean it's paws and rock salt has anti-freeze in it. ANTIFREEZE KILLS DOGS So please wash their paws in water soon as you can when home.

I don't believe there is extra antifreeze added to rock salt. The sodium chloride which is salt lowers the freezeing point of water and performs an anti freezing function.

Ingestion can result in a high blood sodium concentration which can cause thirst, vomiting and lethargy, and in severe cases there is a risk of convulsions and kidney damage.
