How do you pull yourself out of it? I'm feeling a little down today, and can't seem to shake it. Any suggestions? (serious thread).

Have a laugh on the forums

On a slightly more serious note, don't get stuck inside your own for walls. Get out and do something which can take your mind off of your worries

For me there are various things I do, depending on how I feel. Including: taking a nap, having a bath, listening to music, drawing, poetry, scream, sit in silence and think, go for a drive, Stand outside and just think (this when kids are around for silence). Everyone has different techniques that work for them. I have mentioned talk to someone, as some may suggest, because that's not what I do.

Usually I'll put some loud angry music on and thrash it out for an hour followed by some happy upbeat music (can't guarantee it always works though)

Sometimes I'll just jump in the car and go for a drive on my own to clear my head.

Get off here, run a bath and soak for ages until the water goes cold. Candles and music. Chocolate too. Lose yourself for a good hour or so.

Get out, paint your nails. Do your hair. Have a good pamper.

Dance around like an absolute fool in your underwear.

A little bit of self care. A long and luxurious bath, some tasty but bad for you food and some relaxing music or a feel good film.

Hope you are feeling happier soon OP

Rearrange furniture, adult colouring - it's a very relaxing activity and most importantly disconnect from your phone for a bit. Sometimes it can reinforce feelings of isolation

Terry's chocolate oranges are a pound in asda! I eat rubbish, take aways usually. Actually I think I'm gonna order some chicken satays, crispy sea and prawn toast, or I could have lettuce wraps with minced chicken and sea, I dunno, I'm in a Chinese mood.

Depends on if I know why I'm down.

Sometimes having a good old cry and getting it out my system.

Thank you everyone. Great suggestions. I may try some once my little one is finally asleep. Think I'm just a bit sleep deprived and overwhelmed with a teething, grouchy baby. It's just getting a bit on top of me today. Sorry for the downer haha xxx

If I feel really down I listen to Eric Thomas (not a music artist). But not everyone would enjoy these

I hit the gym most times, put your music on and start running, biking, rowing, lifting what ever you like. I do like putting a good comedy or tv show on and then I'll get some cleaning done or some cooking.

Most important and this is just me you've got to realise that somethings in life you have no control over and you have to just accept the consequences of those actions and keep moving forward. Hope it helps.

I spend some time on myself doing things I enjoy, be it something simple like a coffee out, a glass of wine in the evening, music at full volume in the car and singing at the top of my voice (badly I may add ), music in the house and dancing around in my pants, over indulge in all the yummy foods we should limit, a walk by the sea always clears my head, I go to my special place and sit for a while, sit around in my pj's and forget the housework for the day as it's going nowhere fast, a bubbly bath and pamper, curl up in bed and cry it out if I think it'll help.

Hope tomorrow is a better day for you. Mrs Dirty x

bit cold and dark now for a walk - do something that will take your mind off things - i often completely empty the wardrobe or a set of drawers and put back what i need - really does switch your mind away from your troubled thoughts - have a hug xxx

Such lovely comments. Thank you all. And thank you for the PM's offering some great advice.

About to run a bubble bath, pop some soothing music on, and I'll pop a feel good film on a bit later. Big hugs to you all for your great advice xxx

Meditate. I don't mean sitting crossed legged, chanting 'OM',but there are various YouTube videos with binary beats that are beneficial. Listen to these in the bath whilst day dreaming about a pleasant scenario. This helps me with stress.
