I'm not a HR manager but this sounds like typical corporate speak for Personal Development Discussions to me.

Different companies call them different things but essentially it's a chance for you to sit down and discuss on a 121 basis what development needs you would like before your manager disregards everything you've said and tells you what he or she decided a few weeks ago

There and to the left a bit

Coikdn't be 100% sure as they're called different things by different companies, but I'd guess it's some kind of annual review, with PDD standing for something like Personal Development D..... (can't think what the second D might be)....

....why don't you simply ask your boss what it is?

Just give yourself some straightforward targets to meet and extra training in something.

On that note, grab a pen and a piece of paper and start making a list.

Don't forget to list industry lingo as number one.

Oh that meeting - it's normally we have no budget for that, or it's me telling them that I don't apreciate being called / txt on private phone out of office hours, and I don't get paid to do the job I am going

Though I must admit I haven't had one of those for a while thank fuck - my new boss is quiet open and the discussions are better

Called different things by many companies but some form of personal development discussion. Think about what you have done over the last year, where you have excelled and where you are weak that will give you a starting point. Plus think about what you want to achieve in the next year plus some long term goals and that will give you your training and development needs.

Remember it does have to be all about training courses it could include some mentoring or shadowing, there are many things that can be included in personal development.

We call them SPDRs, Appraisals, Supervision and PDPs.

All corporate speak for lets talk about you, and make some targets, then if you get stressed or sick at least we've ticked our boxes.

I write my own and recommend that I attend development courses in Dubai, St Kitts and Mauritius. They get signed off but I never get the courses even though I rate myself as a 'Consistent Star'.

Show them your fab profile.

Say look at my first verification and then read through them individually and you will see my personal development has been quite progressive.

when I was in the civil service we used to get this every year..

and depending on how well you did or how well your manager had thought you had done, then you got upgraded with a pay rise

my bum had nothing to do with the fact that I always got a pay rise...it was more down to all the hard work I put in.. (slightly surprised by your sexist remark OP )

I know for me bonus last year must have been for hard work as my boss is gay (female) and I am sure I don't do anything for her !!!! And anyway I know my company has a meeting where all bonus' are discussed and mapped against others

Joking! (Unless your name's David Moyes?!)

Nothing to worry about matey, like an appraisal, but looking at your development for the business.
