Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

What would you have?

Being strict on the amount, the Tesla model 3 is out, so for me it would be either a Mustang or a second hand Aston Martin.

Or, if I was feeling retro, a Mk1 Escort.

Volvo XC90. Obviously second hand at that price. I used to deliver cars for a living and drove some very nice cars including a 911. XC 90 was the best by a mile imho.

sensible wise... e46 m3 with change to buy a retro mk1 golf gti running Quattro and 2.0 tfsi engine... yes please!!!

You won't get anything too mad for that money so I'd go with the sensible option..I'd want something with shit hot reliability and mpg if possible. that's it. That's all I want from a car. I can't be faffed with fancy cars.

If I had change I would put a nice stereo in though

If I had to buy a car, I would get a 110 or 130 to join the 90, nothing else worth having for that money apart from a Mk1 Escort...

If you're wanting second hand, for 30k you could buy a whole lot of car for that.

If you want silly power, get an RS6 and get it remapped etc. Easily send them over 700bhp.

Or you'd get plenty of change from a nice M5

You couldn't get an R8 for 30k even the oldest ones with high mileage go for around 40k cheapest one I've seen is a 57 plate with 88k miles and that was 38 grand.
