I think I will always enjoy listening to the Velvet Underground Live 1969. I first heard a little bit of it when I was about 5 and I never forgot the little jingle then I heard it again years later and recognised it and found out who it was and years later I met Moe Tucker and it's just good.

Oh blimey so many to choose from...but if it had to be just one album...would have to be the extended version of The Liberty Of Norton Folgate by Madness - as a long standing fan that grew up alongside their music it truly is their magnum opus that finally made the world realise they were more than that funny band who made the funny videos.

The music they used on the trailers for the Assassin's Creed games was also brilliant, Tinie Tempah with pass out for Brotherhood, Woodkid and Iron for Revelations.

Slightly off topic but the choice of music in games and adverts are awesome

Truely incredible album, I supported them one night when they toured in 1996, just a few weeks before On and On charted. They were really nice guys, most headline bands were ignorant, longpigs watched our set and shook our hands as we came off stage.. still listen to the album regularly now

Mine changes, so I have a few. Sometimes for the overall album, sometimes for the mood it creates, sometimes for a single song and in a couple of cases just for the intro of a single track that takes me back to a specific time and place or mood.

I don't like cover versions in general I think there weak imitations.... The only two I think I've heard that have changed the original and probably improved it are Hendrix's all along the watch tower (Dylan's was a bit screechy on harmonica) and the guy who slowed down tears for fears mad world but to this day I've no idea who it was lol

I'd choose "Siamese Dream", bit thats possibly because I'm slightly older and its a slightly earlier album.

I do love the sweeping desolation of "Adore" though. I think I was possibly 19 when it came out and for some reason it reminds me of that summer, and feeling out of place back home after I'd been moved out a year.
