Off the grid

Just been to a LBGT nightclub tonight.

Had not one, but TWO times where I was asked if I was a bloke.

First was a guy on his own. I walked away, because he kept asking me. Tried not to let it ruin the night.

The second time was a couple of hours later. Three very d*unk guys muttering and laughing to themselves and then one says "You are a woman right?".

Please tell me how you recover your ego/self esteem/gender identity after that?

(I've been told it's because there's a lot of people who were in tonight who aren't used to LGBT clubs, so there was a lot of people being idiots. But still, twice? Really? I don't think I can brush twice off.)

Awww bless you doll!!!

I can only imagine how shitty you must be feeling but please don't take it to heart.

They were more than likely just being d*unk arseholes. Thinking they would go to a LGBT club for a giggle and to wind folk up..ignore them!!

Eve. xx

They sound really classy - not!

Sadly there's always arseholes around - I wonder why they were even there in that particular club if they were that intolerant?

How do you recover from that? By telling yourself you're not an arse yourself and being thankful you're a far better person.

Now this isn't a 'white knighting' post even if it sounds like one but for the record, and from what I can see of your profile, your gender absolutely isn't in doubt

Keep smiling and have a fab day!

I perform as a female drag queen and do it to confuse the fuck out of people, making them question gender binaries. But have been asked numerous times, out if drag what I am (bit of a tomboy out of slap).

It smarts a bit but have found saying "why does it matter?" is a way to leave the dicks dumbfounded

What arseholes, if in an LGBT club they should be more tollerant. And even if not they should keep their mouths shut. Maybe they were genuinely interested in how you think of yourself, and not sure how to word it without coming accross as neanderthals. Transexuals/transgender isn't for me (sorry for my ignorance not sure of the difference)

However I believe if a man/woman put themselves through certain procedures, then they deserve full respect. Btw you look stunning girl, don't let a few morons get you down

While I'd never ask anyone what they identified as, if I wasn't sure, I have seen some very convincing trans and even haven't believed when I've been told they're a man.

While it may be seen as something rude to ask, I'd imagine being in an LGBT club makes it more common, especially after people have had a few drinks.

"Why give a second thought to what d*unken arseholes say?"

Easily said , harder to deal with in reality .

We find it much harder to have a fun night on a Friday or Saturday night because of d*unken idiots and their cruel comments .

We often go out in vanilla environments and my wife will get off with a guy in a pub or while we are out and about . Unfortunately the weekends have become a bit tiresome with the often abusive behaviour of d*unk groups of guys . Comments such as it's not Halloween yet , how much love , what do you look like...... are not uncommon . This only happens from groups of guys who are pissed up .

We have thicker skin than most , and generally brush these type of comments to one side and carry on regardless , but it can throw the whole night . It certainly doesn't do anything for ones self esteem and confidence .

So , as I said .... easily said , harder to do .

You need to put a positive spin on it..in an LGBT club and only two people thought you were a bloke. A tidy result in that type of environment where things are not quite as they seem...

I've messaged you.

I would say my height had a small part to play (I'm 5'9 and was wearing really big heels). I was also wearing hair extensions which may have made me look unnatural.

And OTT makeup (ish) because it was a Halloween event. I've never had trouble there before but I spent a lot of time and effort on a really sexy costume last night and that's why I'm particularly gutted.

But I was there with friends and none of them got asked once.

And I looked around and there were some really pretty girls around who were very obviously women so yes it's kinda hard to take - I can't imagine anyone asking them.

I posted here because I was/am incredibly upset.

But I also thought some of the TV/TS may have a take on it? How do they handle it?

Apart from the 2 comments did you enjoy the night? Were your friends lovely? How many compliments did you get?

How many people were secretly crazy jealous of your outfit but just glared at you silently?

"If this really happened then I am surprised by people so ignorant in that sort of environment. But I can't help thinking this is a thinly veiled look at me post!!!!!

A very tall person with OTT make up at a LGBT club. In the cold light of day can you see why they may have wondered? Or were they pissed.. or joking.. or arseholes..?

Shame you can't post a pic of your full outfit.

Hope you feel better. x

I'm messaging a pic of it to Lady Lick and she can do the judgement call, when they have uploaded.

Take it that they thought you looked so completely flawless and stauesque that you couldn't possibly be "au natural"

Right, I've seen the pics and she did look lovely in a catsuit and mask. I can understand why some guys with beer goggles on at the club (not a good one) might have asked the question. But, sadly, that's the mentality of some people and we should do our best to rise above them

"You look all woman to me.

I have to say though that I have seen some crossdressers who look Way way way more feminine and wonderful than I do.

The line between genders is more blurred than ever, if you can just brush it off and stroll on, as I'm sure it wasn't meant to be as hurtful as it obviously is feeling for you.

The first guy I could take. He was very d*unk, said it was his first time there and kept commenting how "diverse" the place was. he asked me repeatedly which of me a bit though.

But the second time was a bunch of three guys and they'd all been laughing and whispering to each other before one came over and asked. So yeah not pleasant.

I'd say they were afraid they might be fancying a very convincing TS/TV and were just being cautious especially if it's a club night they don't usually frequent.

OP, it's easier said than done but try not to let it bother you. They were d*unken idiots who probably can't even remember what they said.

It's good that the LGBT scene is inclusive, but it's depressing some people use it as some sort of freakshow.

This.

So how do I not look like a TV/TS? I know the height thing is an issue. I find it hard to find sexy low shoes. I have wide feet with high arches. Big feet.

Someone else suggested dressing so you're totally covered (pvc catsuit) can make you look TV-ish.

Less makeup too I'm guessing. (It was done by someone else for me last night.)

Please don't let it get to you PT. I imagine TVs/TSs on here must get much worse every day of the week. Some guys are just so uptight that they are desperate not to even be seen talking to a TV/TS (regardless how stunning they look) for fear it will somehow emasculate them.

You are always sexy, and the fact that these idiots blew their chances is their loss, and certainly not yours.

Big hugs

The thing is it's very hard for a woman to try not to look like a t girl, as t girls concentrate on trying to look like a woman.

Just wear the clothes that you enjoy and feel good in, and try not to care what anybody else thinks because at the end of the day it really doesn't matter.

Plus if you are feeling good in your clothes, and rocking your style, it will matter a lot less to you what anybody else thinks.

If you are dressing in a way that you don't feel completely comfortable then it will be very hard to really enjoying what you are wearing.

As much as you can just be yourself and enjoy yourself. None of us are perfect and we would all change a little something about our bodies or look, given the chance.

There is always going to be an occasional nob, but we don't have to give them more space in our head than they are worth.

I don't quite understand why these guys would go to a LGBT club/night to take the piss out of punters there? Coz that pretty much sounds like why the last 3 went in.

Immature of them.

Like someone else said, just be thankful you aren't of the same mentality as those guys.

I recently learnt a very important lesson in life, one which I wish I had understood many many years ago.

"What other people think of you is of no concern to you!"

You are responsible for your own life and actions.

Nobody elses.

And they can only upset you if you give them permission to do so.

It could be the height. A lot of men assume that femininity must be delivered in petite packaging.

Try not to take it heart, which is easier said than done. They're just ejits who can't handle their booze.
