As a Gloucester lass, I have to totally agree. Many a teenage hour was spent watching rugby matches - well, the bums and legs of certain local players - couldn't give a stuff about what was happening on the pitch other than that!

Was at that match and have to say the warriors fans were great - cheered their team on and applauded at the end despite relegation

Oh... and the supporters mixed together with no fuss - can't see that happening at a footie match!!

But I'd rather watch any game of rugby of either code than football - 11 overpaid egos kicking a ball

I'm not that bothered about how much they get paid. Like you say, their agents/managers sort all that out.

What I don't like is all the trouble you hear about at games etc from so called fans of the game!!

I do occasionally watch the odd football game and can appreciate some of the skill demonstrated but I do prefer my rugger

Rugby Union for me, but will even watch League over football.

A Sale fan for my sins and really feel for Leeds, I have a horrible suspicion we'll be in their shoes at this point next season.

Strangely enough, there are actually more Rugby Union clubs in the whole of the North of England than there are Rugby League clubs, and there are a lot more players as well. League has the problem that it seems to find it difficult to 'spread' the game away from its traditional powerbase.

Top-Flight Union in the North is struggling though, the three Premiership clubs in the North were all in the relegation mix at the end of the season

Still, at least we can be trusted to drink in the stadium and mix with the oppo fans (which is one of the best bits), still have vague memories of a very long afternoon spent with the wonderful fans of Newport-Gwent Dragons, and a VERY loud evening with the amazing fans from Munster!

Having heard the news today about FIFA, we should have added that the management of association football from world level down to club level seems pretty corrupt, unlike rugger management.

And if they're not corrupt, they're arrogant and bad-tempered, like Ferguson!

That's only because the amount of money flowing through football is so obscene, throw that sort of money at rugby and i'm sure we'd see corruption on a horrible scale - it's human nature i'm afraid!

Strange isn't it? Rugby players take one hell of a battering over the season, careers can be ended in a heartbeat etc. Yet the average salary for a Premiership Rugby Union player ranges from around £50'000 - £350'000 per year.

Bit different from the footballers rolling around on the floor for £100'000 a month....
