Have you also been watching it and will you tune into the final tonight? It is on bbc2 8pm.

The final sees the winning chefs arrive at the palace of westminster to cook for the celebration of ordinary people honoured by the queen, including military heroes, charity fundraisers and volunteer workers

I hope they all have a wonderful time even though I'm not bowled over by the whole idea of recognising the amazing efforts of humble people by awarding them a meal chosen by a bunch of pretentious celebrity type food snobs in order to sell a TV programme ..

But maybe that just me being overly reactionary .....

I hope the honoured guests enjoy it for what it is...

They deserve their recognition....

Many years ago I knew a woman who gave her all running a volunteer soup kitchen for the homeless and down at heel...

The local community nominated her to be given special recognition for her selfless efforts ,,,,,,

Our numbskull local dignitaries decided awarding a her a Harrods Hamper was a suitable show of appreciation..

Giving a luxury food hamper to someone who dedicated herself to feeding the poor was generally felt a tad insensitive ,,

But I'm sure they meant well

The chefs aren't really celebrity chefs for this one.

Even you would like the Kielder Forest inspired pudding from a self-taught chef.

They've been meeting the people they are cooking for and the people being recognised get a bit of air time too.

Yes, as it is the thought that counts and it is nice with a luxury food hamper too

My apathy to the show format is more aimed at the judging programmes leading towards the banquet which seem to show the theme of the programme is to showcase the opinions of lardy mouthed professional food critics who've probably never been hungry in their lives.....

Hey maybe I'm just being too analytical

It is a good team effort in the kitchen and his dish with the thought of his grandfather and the tree as a centrepiece was nice and the desert with the apples looks tasty too.

Yes. I wondered the same there, if it was a mix of the shows, but seems it is the bake off, nice to see them there as well one more time.
