Why have I become so obsessed with Germany?

I'm waiting with baited breath for the Frankfurt Christmas markets to open and I find facts about Germany fascinating, lime it being quite common to have two single duvets on a double bed, one each, this is genius, because let's face it, who ever said that women are the weaker sex, never had to wrestle a duvet back at 3am

Is anyone on the forum German?, lived in Germany, live in Germany, or love the way Germany do things?

I totally agree with the two duvet arrangement. Perfect.

Brighton - even Hove!

I spent some time in Germany and enjoyed it a huge amount. Very friendly people and efficient and reasonably clean. A damn sight cleaner than London anyway. I'd love to go back.

...Up on the Downs

I fell in love with Germany on a visit to the bookfare in Frankfurt - took a gap year after college to work over there with showjumpers in the Odenwald. I had a great time, a passionate love affair with the handsome farmer, but came away thinking 'Great country, shame about the Germans' - they can be very heard-hearted as a people. We used to have to lock ourselves in our rooms and refuse to work until they got the vet out to a horse sometimes!

Lived there for 3 years. The separate duvet thing is cool, I really enjoyed fruit and veg being seasonal which encouraged you to eat natural and healthy more often.

Sunday being a true day of rest and nothing being open encouraged you to spend the day with family more and doing things that don't cost money like hiking etc.

I love and respect Germany so much.

It's how I got into swinging in the first place.

I lived in Germany and insist that you go to a Christmas market in Germany. I occasionally pass the Birmingham one - many of us here go - but i love the ones over there.

Currently in Germany for the first time, in Berlin for a short break and it's close to being my favourite City after our first day. Will be back in just over 3 weeks for my second visit, this time in the West, may try and go for a hat trick and come back in December for a Christmas market.

I'm not a huge fan of German sausages though

Haha

That strip where the sex shops and clubs are is incredible. There's not a lot you can't do sexually at night there too haha

For the average and above average pervert, it's very fun indeed

I've been there numerous times with work and it's one of my favourite countries. Clean, friendly, beautiful countryside, with really good pub food and alt biers which are like our real ales. They don't have much of a sense of humour though and you can't get a meat pie.

also doing shots with an Australian bar tender in an Irish pub in Hamburg with the rest of the bars in the street celebrating Germany winning a football match was a bit special ...

I've been trying to convince Mrs ddc of this for years: we like different togs, so this is the perfect solution.

Germans are so logical that my OCD can't help but admire them.

not so Littlehampton

My partner is German, so every year we drive out to see her family.

I fell in love with the place.

Great roads (not just the autobahns) they also drive properly too.

And whilst the würst ist gut, my downfall is the cake, especially the beinenstich.

And as Tina has rightly stated they have given us the German ambassador for comedy - henning wehn.

I can't wait for next year's trip.

Munster, more specifically. I loved walking around the markets - it didn't seem to be able to get more Christmas-y. Went back last year for the first time in 20 years and it was largely unchanged. I loved every minute of it and want to go back.

Was in Berlin between 14th till 17th nov.

I've always had a facination also about Germany etc.

Found the transport great/efficient etc.

Used the underground a lot.

Great shops etc.

There was a wee german Market, )the wee mobile one) set up at potsdamer platz, i had a nice wee gluhwine (you could get bratwurtz etc)

I'd DEFO go back, as even in the food halls, in most of the malls you can get a beer with your meal.
