DVD? More like VHS. My Dad didn't get age classifications when we first got a VHS, I remember our first family movie being an action film where a bloke got shoved into a mincer. He learnt very quickly after that ??

VHS for me. And The Full Monty was fantastic!! I might be a little bias due to location but one of the best British films.

"Rosie Dixon Night Nurse" on VHS for me, with friends. Don't think we realised that it was meant to be funny!

In the 80s my local "video shop" was happy to let the 13 year old me rent 15 and 18 (or AA) rated videos as long as the content was not sexual. I went through a phase of enjoying both American and Eastern martial arts movies, and my parents gave permission for me to rent them.

I saw hard core porn on VHS when I was about 12. My brothers mate managed to get it (he must have been about 16) and I remember watching it but didn't really know what was going on

I stayed with my Grandmother a lot through my childhood, with her I watched every poltergeist film, exorcist, the entity, the omen, shining, tommy knockers and loads of other Stephen king movies. Age certificates didn't enter her head and I still went to bed on my own and needed the door shut tight and complete darkness! The first film I watched with her where I got scared my gran told me it's only pretend, if it was real they wouldn't have been able to film it like that. That's all she had to tell me, that logic stayed with me and knew that something make believe is nothing to be scared of!

Not sure if it was the first 15 I watched but the first time I saw breasts in a film was watching coming to America when I was about 7, I'd gone to work with my dad and was hanging around with the family's 2 kids who were 13 and 11 at the time and theffort decided we should watch it

I'm sure I watched loads of 15 films before I should, generally it's swearing or something sexual to put up the rating. But I remember vividly my dad deciding I was old enough to watch my first 18, while mum was out of course. I was so excited! 1987's big action sci-fi release, but on VHS so possibly 88/89, I'd have been 12/13. Sitting down smiling stupidly when the metallic titles slam into the screen...Robocop!! (original cut too)

The smile was soon wiped away....I had "ten seconds to comply!" haha

I watched Dirty Dancing from the age of 2 but there's nothing explicit in it at all. I didn't even pick up on the unwanted pregnancy subplot until I was around 10
