Had anyone seen this campaign being set up in Lincolnshire pubs?

If your date is going wrong, you can ask the bar staff for Angela, which is a safe word, to order a taxi or discrete exit

Sounds like the old Harp lager ads.

Seems a bit weird, about the password, the article implies there are posters up in the ladies toilets...

Maybe there's a daily password that's posted up

I believe there are apps you can get to generate a fake phone call, with a family emergency etc.

But I like the idea that bar staff can help you out

Do men get an Ask for Bob service, or just rely on sneaking out the toilet window?

I like the idea that bar staff should be encouraged to help (and imagine most would in any event).

I'm not sure it has been thought through properly, though. Poor Angie might have her quiet drink interrupted.

It's an idea but would only be effective if the staff are really clued up on the process or it could turn out to be a right ole palaver.

Alternatively the woman might be better off saying to her date in full view of everyone she's leaving & stand by the bar until the taxi arrives.

You read the Torygraph? No wonder they make you sit in the corner...

The Fab equivalent is that you ask for Sarah-Jane or Mark. The bar staff don't help, but the whole pub forever gives you sideways glances and mutters about 'dirty swingers' under their breath.

I think if you've done all the groundwork prior to your meet u shouldn't need this and if you are a gent and the lady says look this isn't working you should say fine I'm cool with that pay the bill and offer to get her a taxi and no hard feelings

The idea just has so many holes in it it's just silly...

When in the ladies loo looking at the poster, you probably have your mobile with you, so the number of a taxi firm would be useful...

If you can get away from your date to talk to the bar staff... Why can't you say "my date isn't working out, can you call me a cab"

Saves poor Angela from sitting in the pub all alone wondering why she keeps getting stood up...

For me an even better idea would be a poster in both toilets saying "It's ok to tell your date you don't want to continue. It is also ok to respect that decision"

We need a culture of polite plain speaking without ambiguity there's way too much faffing about being scared of offending people.
