"It's a good idea and safety should always be at the forefront of anyone's mind - but if the ladies know the passcode, won't the men they're with know it too? " They do now.......

"It's a good idea and safety should always be at the forefront of anyone's mind - but if the ladies know the passcode, won't the men they're with know it too? " Seems a bit weird, about the password, the article implies there are posters up in the ladies toilets... Maybe there's a daily password that's posted up I believe there are apps you can get to generate a fake phone call, with a family emergency etc. But I like the idea that bar staff can help you out Do men get an Ask for Bob service, or just rely on sneaking out the toilet window?

"What if you really do need to speak to Angela though? " Or there's an Angela behind the bar that's unaware of the campaign!! Or am I overthinking this as usual?! Mr G

"What if you really do need to speak to Angela though? " That could also be awkward if Angela worked behind the bar. If I were feeling uncomfortable I'd say it was time for me to go and wait for my cab somewhere public.

"http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/life/pub-campaign-introduces-code-word-to-help-you-escape-from-bad-da/ Had anyone seen this campaign being set up in Lincolnshire pubs? If your date is going wrong, you can ask the bar staff for Angela, which is a safe word, to order a taxi or discrete exit Sounds like the old Harp lager ads. Time for a sharp exit " You read the Torygraph? No wonder they make you sit in the corner... The Fab equivalent is that you ask for Sarah-Jane or Mark. The bar staff don't help, but the whole pub forever gives you sideways glances and mutters about 'dirty swingers' under their breath. Mr ddc

"What if you really do need to speak to Angela though? " Worse, what about if your date is not only called Angela, but a cab-driver to boot. Then you're really buggered

"I think Teresa May asked Angela about an exit and got roundly fucked off . Though they probably packed her off in a taxi. " How (and why) the fook did you try to turn this into a Brexit thread? * Scratches head.

"For me an even better idea would be a poster in both toilets saying "It's ok to tell your date you don't want to continue. It is also ok to respect that decision" We need a culture of polite plain speaking without ambiguity there's way too much faffing about being scared of offending people."

Stop being sensible! how can you expect people who are old enough to be in a pub to have communication skills

You might find it interesting. " ask Angela" " for an exit" Whoever thought that name up had a sense of humour.
