Job interview

Hi folks. I have a job interview coming up Monday and I'm slightly anxious that my memory will fail me for examples of teamwork.. would it go against me if I had notes to remind me. I'm being serious..my memory recall can be an issue.

Notes should be fine, at least they are where I work. It shows you've prepared for the interview also so may even count in your favour

Can't see how have notes would be an issues. It would show you as someone who prepares and has an attention to detail. All good points for an interview if you ask me x

Everyone gets nervous when it comes to interviews. Being put on the spot and interrogated is never fun. The best thing you can do is just be yourself and be positive. If they don't like it then it is their loss. Something better will always come along.

I always take a notebook with me so I can make notes of things they say to ask questions on at the end.

It also has a couple of reminders of things in there too.

If you refer back to notes then it should show you prepared for the interview and didn't just turn up.

Failing that, picture them naked.

I would take a small note pad with you and write a couple of small notes to refer to if you do get stuck but not only that use your note pad for information they give you when in the interview

A good interview is about them finding out about you - how you work and whether you would fit in. It is also about you finding out whether they fit with you. It shouldn't be an interrogation.

Showing up with notes shows you've prepared and for me that is a tick right away

I'd rather candidates turn up with a note pad as a prompt then ummm & errrr their way through.

Try remember 5 or 6 key bullet points about good team working and what makes you a good team player.

I interview people fairly regularly, yet don't greatly discuss the job or previous experience.With me, its all about interaction, and "can I get on with this person?"

Knowledge can be taught, personality can't, so be chatty and outgoing, make them see the person, not the CV, and good luck x

Appreciate that.. was just waving flag that taking notes may go against you.. there is not always a right or wrong way.

It depends on the company or the interviewer. I've guided people to think of a few different scenarios which demonstrate their strengths that they can use to answer several different questions... for example, you might have had organise a big meeting... that can show organisation, negotiation, team working.... so then you just have a few scenarios in your head that you know well.

Ooh good idea..I have one scenario in my list already that shows initiative going the extra mile and team playing..when left in the shit by someone higher up.
