I haven't seen a thing about this today:

But today is the 50th anniversary of the 1966 Aberfan disaster in which so many tiny angels and their teachers didn't make it home to their families.?? and the reason we now have the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and we do make it home.

Was a tragedy that could of been averted if the owners Ncb and their health and safety engineers had done their jobs right !!!!!!

Ironically the man in charge of the coal board went on to be the chief executive of health and safety !!!!!!!

Rip all 144 innocent people xxx

West Wales and Cardiff

It's huge news in Wales, understandably - some wonderful, if harrowing TV.

There was a wonderful concert at the Wales Millennium Centre recently to mark it too.

There was a nice thread in the Lounge earlier.

It's lovely that people like yourself remember

You obviously haven't been watching the news. It's been on Sky news and BBC news this morning on the hour.

Catthorpe

Great post. We only got into a conversation about this a few weeks ago and didn't realise today was the day it occurred. Thoughts are will those today.

There was a post about it today. Wife's grandfather had finished a night shift then walked 12 miles to help. It traumatised him because it wasn't just bodies that they recovered but body parts too.

Documentary to watch
