I was born and raised in the good ole black country, but I've lived in brumigum for "11 ear" lol

Its amazing how different the accents are, and indeed the customs, but both have a rich history, especially when it comes to rock/heavy metal, some of the greatest names in rock history, are from right here, and also a lot of the 80s ska movement was born in Birmingham (but mostly Coventry) other notable musical influence

Musical youth

Duran Duran

5 star

Ub40

Dodgy

And the early 90s saw an explosion of bands from around Stourbridge such as

Pop will eat itself

Ned's atomic dustbin

The wonder stuff

So next time yoyu think about Birmingham and the black country, don't let it just be the made up for TV accent that you think of, think Spitfire's, the anchor chain on the Titanic (the only bit that was supposed to sink) and the band that played on? Three brothers from west Bromwich were members of the band on the titanic

I'm proud lol

Agree 100%.

I must say I was devastated when jb's in dudley closed. A great venue!

I may be thinking about a different group, but I thought five star were from Romford (where I grew up)

Nope Birmingham, I too was gutted, jb's hosted U2 when they first came to play live shows in England, great venue, and of great musical importance, noit just for Dudley, but the whole British music scene
