The land of grey peas and bacon

So I was recently told on another side that they wanted to meet someone who could cook...I'm not sure if he felt the woman's role was in the kitchen...

However it got me thinking do we like to meet someone that can cook? I'm blessed I love to cook and always been a decent cook, well apart from the time I d*unk cooked a pizza .

I've always had compliments etc but do you think it's an important quality to have?

It never ever crossed my mind when I met Ads 'can he cook' (which he can btw!)

I've developed my skills over the years and after years of just throwing everything I have in the cupboards to be constantly mocked 'are you sure you know what you are doing' to having been someone that trusts me completely in the kitchen is a breath of fresh air! I have an idea what I'm making but never quite sure how it will turn out, thankfully all my weird and wonderful meals so far have turned out ok!!

I'm a great cook. I also think it's an important quality for a man to have. I don't care if they can cook or not on here, but if I were to settle down with someone, it would be highly preferable. We could take it in turns then

I never used to be able to cook. I blame it in part on my parents and my upbringing. I come from a Northern steel town. If it wasn't Sunday dinner it was deep fried. In some cases parts of Sunday dinner was deep fried!

However, now I'm a passable cook. I know my herbs and spices and what goes in what. I tend to follow a recipe the first time, then adapt it to my own tastes. Usually more heat and garlic.

I think it's really important to have a basic knowledge of food. Not sone thing I look for from a meet, but if I ever take dating seriously I would.

I love it when guys cook for me, doesn't happen to often though so I don't think it's that important.

Anyone can cook with a recipe etc in front of them. I'm envious of people who can just chuck things together though, I've always wanted to be able to do that

Yes I can cook. I would have improved my cooking skills too had it not been for an embarrassing misunderstanding.

It turns out that 'Lardon' is not French for arousal. I wish I had known that before I ruined a pan of good food and got thrown out of my haute cuisine cookery course.

Do I think it's an important quality to have? Sure. I think being able to feed yourself well is a good life skill.

Do I think it's an important quality for a partner to have? Not really. We're not going to spend that much time in each others houses.

I cook my mums meals everyday, I cooked most meals when I was married.. its a life skill if you've got it you can choose to use it or not ..

My little ladies say I should be on masterchef , that's more a sign of how bad a cook my ex is.

I've shown my girls how to cook a few basic meals spag bol chilli con carne etc

Well, I think being able to cook is an important quality for my partner to have because I am absolutely horrible at it.

Luckily Marc can cook and doesn't mind that I can't.

One time for his birthday I cooked him a three course meal and members of my family actually called him to warn him to make sure everything was OK before he ate it. True story.

Depends what I'm cooking but probably about 2/3 saucepans plus chopping boards and knifes lol.

My favourites are a winter stew and a very hot Chile con carne. Usually make all my own sauces up also.

Daughter says she loves my home baking but then again she's biased.

I like simple rules that I can follow and get consistent results, so I have always loved cooking.

I can't (daren't) speak for Mrs ddc, but let's just say my missing tooth is the result of one of her roast potatoes...

(and she uses the smoke alarm as a kitchen timer)

Luckily she no longer knows where the rolling pin is kept.

I can cook though. And bake

I've only ever made dinners for my husband.

He and a few other men have cooked specially for me.

I can cook and bake (in face I'm a master baker ) . If I have a recipe I'm fine and will give most things a go.

Never had to cook for a large number (more than 4), not sure I'd like that.

I guess being a good cook on this site isn't really something that will get the messages rolling in though?

However it got me thinking do we like to meet someone that can cook? I'm blessed I love to cook and always been a decent cook, well apart from the time I d*unk cooked a pizza .

I've always had compliments etc but do you think it's an important quality to have? "

How many single people living alone return from work to cook a meal for themselves? I admit I am a 'throw it in the oven/microwave for 30 minutes' guy however do make a point of cooking myself a roast dinner on Sundays.

I do!

I admit that it isn't always (or indeed, ever) fancy, but I don't have the money to buy ready meals, they look awful and I think microwaves are the devils' business, so I won't have one in my house.

I'm a chef 7 days a week 12/16 hours a day , so I can happily say yes I can cook

But rarely cook at home as have enough during the day xx

As for an important quality in a partner , there's plus's and minus's , would be nice to have a meal cooked for me sometimes , but also would it be up to my standards lol

Microwave meals are full of shit! Buy yerself a bottle of wine and have a batch cooking day, eat what you want, freeze the rest then nuke it whenever you want. At least you know what's in it

I make a mean schnitzel and home cooked chips.

Then there's my cottage pie, chilli con carny and a nice roast!

All tought to me by dad, when I was a teenager, telling me "son, wanna get the girls knickers off? Impress her with a good meal and an even better playing!"

And yes. It has worked so far.

I love cooking and didnt realise how much till I moved recently (can't use the kitchen).

It's hell living from a microwave and panini press, but kitchen design was finalised and walls knocked down come the weekend so I might have a shiney new kitchen next month.

I'm so excited an island and bi folding doors, built in beer fridge and coffee machine what more could a girl ask for.

And the first meal to be cooked as requested by our builders roast bloody dinner lol

I don't live alone, but do cook for myself. I don't eat microwave meals. I spend 1 day a fortnight batch cooking. Then I can just pick something out of the freezer and cook veg when I get in from work. Much better than ready meals.
