Weird Facebook thing

I keep getting friends suggestions from Facebook that sre people from fab. The weird thing is, they're not people I have anything to do with.

It's not great really as I can now know more about them than they would probably like.

WTF?

If you have the mobile numbers in your phone the facebook app pairs you together.

Facebook also gets data from what's app, so if you've messaged anyone via there it can create the link.

I would take the Facebook app off your phone and use the Facebook website instead. It's a little less creepy.

Just make sure your fb settings dont use your phone number or you'll end up offered to them as a friend!

As said above ....if you have someone on your contacts or hv whatsapped them it will link you...remember they will appear in your suggestions so the chance is your also appearing as a suggested friend for them

It's people who I have had NO contact with. No whatsapp, no chat, no nothing. It's just odd.

I get suggestions of guys I've chatted to on here but never exchanged numbers with. It's very odd. I've never had the OP suggested though!

Facebook do own What's app and I wonder if that has something to do with it. I was totally spooked but I don't think there's anything sinister in it. You have to wonder how they get their info

This sort of thing has been happening to me too. I use Facebook mainly for family and have high privacy settings. I am somewhat worried by all this 'helpful' linkage between worlds I would rather keep separate.

I know they are on fab because I recognise their faces. (That's one of the many reasons I keep my pics private).

There's no other link. They're not friends of friends. Just suggestions.

wouldn't be surprised now if just using the same site as someone in your area makes these people pop up on fb.

Facebook does share info/contact details with WhatsApp unless you tell it not to. There was a big thing about it in the news a few weeks back.
