The siege of jadotville....great film..true story of a UN piece envoy from ireland sent to the congo in 1961...what happens is far from peaceful...anybody else seen it on netflix yet?

have not seen it yet , but proud to say I have not one but two family members who were ambushed at katanga . Looking forward to seeing the film .

i should add that it is only in recent years the president of ireland honoured these brave men and presented them with medals in recognition of their extrordinary efforts .As a child i was regaled with the story told by men whod been there and quietly shrugged their shoulders when we asked how come they were not famous

Yes, watch it 2 days ago on Netflix here. Indeed a very good film well done and as you rightly day a great bit of history. Some very personal history to it too as my parents were there in that area not far when it all broke out. It's home for me in many respects too as I grew up out there. Theres been a few good films made about the troubles there from 59 to 64 with the Simba uprising and Lamumba.
