We do it on occasions. I've done it since boyhood. It's at it's best in Scotland though.

Anywhere on Dartmoor where wild camping is allowed, which is a large area when the Army are not doing army stuff.

But.

With the lack of light pollution the view of the Milky way is stupendous.

As for Wild swimming, anywhere that's not a chlorinated pool be it a river, the sea or lake.

We favour skinny dipping which is way more fun.

Love it, did it lots when the weather was good enough when I was an undergrad in North Wales.

Have done it in Spain, Norway, Italy...and the North York Moors and Dales too - though I am ashamed to admit the last two do not compare to the prior ones.

Wild camping is when you leave the toilet roll at home n use docking leaves to wipe your arse with instead

We also do guerilla camping, which can be interesting.

You guys plug in a makeshift shower to a river or tarn? Seen that mentioned in the "walking" mag once or twice.

As I understand it, wild camping is camping outside of recognised campsites, but with permission of the landowner. Guerilla camping is the same, but without permission. The only country we didn't risk it was Italy.

Luckily round here in Snowdonia it is still the norm to take off into the mountains with a lightweight tent in your rucksack and pitch up by one of the many remote lakes in the Moelwyns, Rhinogs or Carneddau and camp overnight...sheer beautiful wilderness time...love it!

we have been wild camping most of our lives, just love wakeing up and having nature as our garden,

just recently changed from a tent to a campervan so its not really wild anymore, but we do park up on beach carparks and quiet spots in the hills n mountains any layby in the middle of nowhere, sit outside and eat our brekkie or eve meal sometimes naked if were in the middle of nowhere

BOLDON COLLIERY

all my wild camps were over 2,000 ft.

One of the most memorable was going over Crinkle Crags at midnight

and pitching my tent on top of Bow fell about 1am

God I love those mountains, and camping in them.
