Sad news for all us old punks, regarding the passing of one of the true greats.

Poly Styrene loss her battle with breast cancer.

For those that remember, she was a one off, the sound of a generation.

I will forever be sing the song "I am a Poser".

It all started in the 70s so they are all old now.

ie Charley Harper, Debbie Harry and Hugh Cornwall. All pretty old.

Charlie Harper is young enough to be Jet Black from the Stranglers grandson !!! Jet Black is going fo the oldest drummer alive record !!

It is a pity the BBC cant dig out some old X-Ray-Spex material from the archive and let us all go down memory lane together.

"6Music did. Can't see any of the other 'let's play the latest X-factor shite' stations following suit though.."

I think you'll find that when the news broke on 25 April, quite a lot of radio stations dug out X-Ray Spex records - I heard her played on at least 3 shows on Radio 2 that day, for example. She was also aired on a number of national commercial stations.

Of course they are not going to play her now - news that's 10 days old isn't news.

It wasn't news when I put it on here, and I knew that. I was thinking about her and X RAY SPEX, songs, running through my head. Though that I'd share my thoughts a little. Next week I may be thinking about Lux Interior, Promise no more old news posts.

If you're talking old, just take a look at John Cooper Clarke. He make Keith Richards look like a teenager!

But still as good as ever
