The telephone number etched in the minds of a generation of kiddies for Swapshop, Saturday Superstore and other Saturday morning tv shows back in the day.

Did anyone here ever call in?

Who did you speak to, and what did you ask them?

Anyone remember the prank / obscene callers to Five Star and the like? Comedy gold!

I remember when it changed from 0818118181 to 01818118181 and they had to shoehorn an extra 1 into the jingle so it didn't quite flow any more. Was that Live & Kicking?

North Herts

Unfortunately, it's the 'old' number that seems familiar to me ...

Sadly I was never allowed to ring it as anything other than essential phone calls was considered a waste of money by my parents.

I would have swapped my sister for more or less anything though ...

Excellent. Does that mean I can now disqualify myself from the inane "mature woman" threads? Hurrah.

01 288 8055 was the very first number for swap shop and it changed to the infamous 01 811 8055 after the first series. The first show was 2.10.76 so it's just had its 40th birthday and the 081 was from Live and Kicking
