I lie on the sofa and cry occasionally. If I have 'man flu' I find religion.

I go to work. Would rather be ill and busy than lie about feeling sorry for myself

Drink plenty of fluids. This is important to prevent dehydration caused by lack of fluid intake and sweating and to thin the mucus in your lungs, which will make it easier to cough up.

Get plenty of rest.

A fever, headaches and aches and pains can be treated with paracetamol or ibuprofen. Always read the label to make sure these are suitable for you.

A sore throat caused by persistent coughing can be eased with a warm drink of honey and lemon.

Coughing can be relieved by using a humidifier, taking a shower or inhaling steam from a heatproof bowl of hot water, but take care to avoid scalding.

Make breathing easier by using extra pillows to raise your head up while sleeping.

Stop smoking if you smoke.

Believe it or not, before you go to bed put the Vicks on soles of your feet and put a pair of socks on

Steam - plastic bowl- hot water and steam at least 4 times a day- don't need to add anything to the water but you can add a little olbas or Vicks if you like.

Pineapple.

Tinned just as good as fresh.

Boil it up in a pan, put in 2 tablespoons organic honey (the cheap stuff has no actual pollen in it) eat it.

I thought it was bollocks too but it cleared up a chesty cough.

I like this plan. If I'm still chesty by the weekend I'll be doing just that!

Sound advice.

And do complete your course of antibiotics, even if you start to feel well.

I wish you well, Red xxx
