It's not "the rage" - it's just what some people prefer. People were shaving their pubes back in Roman, Greek and Egyptian times.

Personally I just keep it trimmed. I'd never shave it all off. Done it once or twice before and I hated how it looked and felt.

On a woman I prefer hairy. The more hair the better.
