"Do i need a telescope to view this " No....look for the three stars in a row (Orions belt) with the "sword" hanging just below on left....including the Orion Nebula. Left and up is a bright red star, Betelgeuse (a red super giant star) representing one of Orion shoulders. Also Rigel down and right....a blue star representing one of his feet. A brilliant constellation. Hope I live long enough to see Betelgeuse go super nova.....that will be the most spectacular event in space that will be seen in millennia!

"Another positive from the nights drawing in is that ISS passes overhead become easier to view again. Not sure if one is due on Christmas Eve or not this year (like they have been for the last couple of years at least) - I'll have to Google! " Hope so- my daughter loves looking out for "Rudolph" and his friends!!

It's said that when it does go 'bang' it will be like having a 2nd Sun in the sky. The Earth will not see nightfall for decades.
