Asking for face pics...

Occasionally, if someone sends me a nice message without a face pic, I reply asking for one. But then if I don't fancy the guy, it is more awkward saying no than if I'd just said no in the first place.

How do you politely reject people?

I think the same standard is right, however developed the communication or meet has become. Someone has to be the first to exhange face pics, if no public ones are available and an initiator of chat, for sex, is likely to be the one requested to supply theirs first - and the choice is theirs, whether they do or don't.

A polite, respectful 'thanks, but no thanks', of words of your own choosing should work.

People here do need to invest into getting a meet with others, especially if it's single men who are looking. The more they invest, on average, the more they are likely to achieve.

I shouldn't worry about it or them for that matter; if they cannot (for any reason) put a face pic on their profile then this is the risk they take. You have a choice and if the guys don't respect that; well probably aren't the best guys to meet.

You can be polite about it. Or you can just block them; regardless some will be arseholes and some will accept your decision . Many women on here just block guys they aren't attracted to; due to the level of abuse or pleading the have received with a politely worded "no".

I ask for face pics after they have asked for mine and tend to find 95% of the time they are not polite enough to reciprocate so now if u not willing to send face pic first I won't bother

I ask for a face pic to be sent with a first message if they don't have any on their profile for me to see, so if they don't send one, I just delete their message.

Saves having to reject them after chatting and then getting a face pic.

Exactly this, some don't think that way though and take the old "thanks but no thanks" far too personal. If we blocked everyone who gave us a polite turn down we would overload the FAB server!!

If someone walked up to you in a pub and started chatting you up. Would you feel Obligated to talk to them? Why would here be different if you don't fancy them.

Any guy that has been on here for a while learns how to handle rejection pretty well, you could be the hottest guy in town in real life, but you're still a small fish in a big pond on here.

You can't take it personally, so just be polite with them. If they get abusive then block.

Yet nine times out of ten our first reply is can we please see face pics.

I can't think of an example of a time when I've liked the look of someone from their messages, profile and body pics and then been turned off by their face. This is either luck or I'm easily pleased.

If someone was to turn me down after seeing my face photo I'd rather they just said "not my type" or something similar.

A face doesn't have to be classically handsome to be likeable. But to know whether or not it is likeable to me, I obviously have to be able to see it. Of course I have no problem saying no thanks, or deleting pointless messages or blocking arseholes (not with a cork!) or any of that. It's just that faces are so personal and rejection upon the basis of one is always cringeworthy. The rejection still happens though. I'm not going to fuck someone out of politeness.

That's pretty cool you do this even when refusing. What happens when we swap private face pics is one part checking attraction and another revealing identity, it is respectful to show who you are to someone who's revealed themselves.

To continue from above - anybody that contacts you _rtemisia has the benefit of having seen your face. You specifically suggest that they send you a smiley picture. So you've struck up a convo but they have omitted showing their face - that's a failing on their part, in this case.

But I think the main issue here is that we apply existing social etiquette to a situation that is entirely outside the system this etiquette was designed for. Perhaps we should stop thinking of saying "no thanks" as rejection - there was no real investment here, just people checking each other out.

I took a chance and met a guy who refused to send me a pic as I really enjoyed his chat. Did not fancy him at all but had a few beers and just said sorry you're not my type. I don't get to go out too often so I consider that a massive waste of my time so in the future, no pic no meet.
