Thanks - I asked for my own personal interest. I was a (very happy being) 14 going into this year but I'm bowing out of this year as a 16 and feeling a little less confident than normal, glad to hear I fit someone's bill though lol

Everyone has different tastes don't they but I have learnt to just embrace my size lately

I have days where I wish I was skinny but then I realise there's people in the world with far worse problems than me worrying about my weight

I feel daft even saying it tbh I'm not a pre madonna at all and it's 1 stupid dress size. It's just really knocked my confidence being a 16 and frankly I'm ashamed to say that as I would never look at another woman of the same size and think she was the f word. I'd think she was hot. Too much pressure indeed

When I give my head a wobble over it, i say this to myself. God couldn't bless me with skinny, I'm a deadly weapon as it is, if I had skinny on my side I'd be classed as a lethal weapon!

"Does size 18 count as "BBW"? "

It depends on the their height / weight ratio, for example a woman of 5ft would probably look a lot larger being a size 18 than her 5'10 counterpart.

I constantly fluctuate between a size 14 to 16. It does affect your confidence. I also a have a 1 year old, so am not happy with the wobbly bits. But i try to focus on thinking this is me in all my glory and some will like it. Some won't. I just try not to worry so much, as I get older... Still have my off days though! Haha.

It's your choice of words / what you're implying, which appears to be the issue. All woman are "womanly" & / or "real" regardless of their body shape.

I'm in a position where I was a size 14 (sometimes a 12) having lost 7 stone. Of that 7 stone I lost I've regained 5 of it and am back up to a size 18-20.

And I'm now at a stage I actually don't give a shit what others think of me. I'm 38, I have a husband who loves me unconditionally, 3 kids that have given me a map on my stomach, and a lot to be thankful for.

And while I would be classed as morbidly obese, i'll start to lose weight when I chose to, not when the rest of society decided I should.

My daughter will be 18 in a month, a size 8 and think she's fat because of todays media.

Way too much pressure these days

See now, I find it's the opposite with my daughter. She will be 17 this month. She's also a size 8, but she wants to be curvier. So is actually trying to put a little weight on. All of her friends have the curvy mentality too. Not like when I was growing up, and it was supermodel mentality... As in the thinner the better.

Morbidly Obese is not the fashion industry's definition; it is a clinical defination. The GP can tell patients if they are morbidly obese and whether they will die because of being so obese

You cannot convince some people that mass is matter and matter cannot appear all by itself; the guy with the apple said so

People are obese because they eat too much or they excerise too little or both

No amount of hormonal or thyroid problems or medication causes people to get fat. These may lower their metabolic rate but it neither creates the perpetual machine or cold fusion

Not strictly true. Some steroidal treatments do increase the muscle density and if taken for a long time can add to a persons weight. Trust me I am a taxi driver.

Yes, you are correct

Some anti-nausea medication does contain steroids and can increase muscle mass. However input to output still applies. Matter cannot be created out of nothing. For dense matter to be created, the source is either internal (other body structures) or external (Big Macs; yum, yum)

"Does size 18 count as "BBW"? "

Surely, that would depend on the size of her breasts?

This will point those in doubt in the right direction!

There you go again Josie - turning me on even more.

By the way; the guy with the Apple? Steve Jobs?"

You are a few centuries ahead of your time xxx

From what i was told by a bbw party planner anything above 16 is classed as bbw and anything above 24 to 26 is classed as ssbbw but that might be wrong

There were both there too. So was Issac who was, as usual, playing with 'mellons'; nothing changes

"I'm in a position where I was a size 14 (sometimes a 12) having lost 7 stone.

Mrsb x

Morbidly Obese is not the fashion industry's definition; it is a clinical defination. The GP can tell patients if they are morbidly obese and whether they will die because of being so obese"

I stand corrected. I'm still in the obese range for my height & weight.

And while it may not be the fashoin industry's definition, they certainly don't help the young woman of today with all the pressure they pile on to look a certain way etc.

I think more woman need to ignore the media and everything else negative towards them, and just embrace themselves and be happy x

I agree

I am a bit floppy here and a bit flabby there and i try to keep myself fit but I won't follow the herd and make it my goal to become size zero. For every person who does not like me the way i am, there might be another who does. I am more interested in the people who will

Size doesn't always determine how sexy someone is in my eyes,I've been with smaller women and larger women and been just as attracted to them all!i couldn't tell you the dress size of any as it's never crossed my mind.if I find someone sexy then everyone's happy.plus different things make different people attractive ??

It's rather sad that so few people can distinguish between what's a societal construct about how people should look and what's healthy.

The average person in this country spends over 3 hours a day watching TV and does not go to the gym more than once a week. You don't measure health by dress sizes.

Anyone that thinks dieting is a good way to lose weight is mislead. It's far easier, more fun and better for you to simply exercise more. Soldiers in Afghanistan eat 6,000+ calories and day and still lose weight because of how active they are - go figure.
