Getting annoyed, sex worker terminology

Disappointed to read thread earlier op referring to sex workers as W####S, rhymes with oars.Even on supposedly liberal site like this.

Yes they are in it for the money , then equally isn,t anyone who provides a service..?

We also forget that there clients are often disabled,terminally ill,the lonely,elderly and those with personality disorders.

Not to mention they often have to fuck those you would,nt even wish to shake hands with, and the obvious safety risks involved.

My point yes there not to everyone's taste,but they do deserve better understanding and more respect and deed protection and provide a valuable service.

I prefer the term " Sex Entrepreneurs"....

Also forget ,I suspect emotionally and mentally they sacrifice a lot which remains with them for the rest of their life's.

Socially I expect its very awkward to, when meeting new friends or members of family we all like to discuss our occupations Don,t we..?? How can they ?? Unless truely trusted friends and not to mention should there children in later life start asking awkward questions.......

I guess it depends on the words and how its phrased.

I saw the post you were referring to, that word in that context is quite degrading.

However i do like to use it during play sessions and i like to be called it too.

So like most things it is swings and roundabouts really

They don't have to fuck anyone,unless they are forced into prostituting,and then they aren't reaping the rewards. They can be very choosy if they want and not all of their clients are these "undesirables" you listed.

I can see where you went wrong there...

Personally I don't see why it should be illegal either for someone to sell, or someone to seek to pay for, sex. As you say, some people are paid for their brains, others for their brawn, yet others for their beauty. It makes no logical sense why sex workers should be treated differently. Especially if it's deemed acceptable to use sex to sell other things (such as newspapers)

It's a very old fashioned term for sure, and insulting in the wrong context.

But to get so annoyed about it? Nah.......

You make it sound like people who have sex for money are doing a public service. I doubt if they they think of it that way, they probably think it pays the bills.

For the names people call it...they are names to describe people who have sex for money. Prostitution is the oldest profession and yet that word and others are frowned upon if you use them.

( although I think the whore word is said more for derogatry reasons )

We definitely need to new approach and attitude to prostitution, it's never going to stop and the safety of the people should be paramount. And anyone who has an issue with sex workers should abstain from watching porn - only a camera and crew separates a porn star from a "sex worker"

Ladies get annoyed when a fella womanises serially duping women emotionally and wasting there time only to leave them he get what he wants....

Yet seem even more disgusted at another fella who pays for the sex without fucking with a womans emotions just a transparent transaction ...which I think is more honest..

I agree, the term is derogatory and demeaning. For me to refer to people who engage in sexual work using such terms portrays a somehow lesser class of person.

I've spoken to several over the years, such people are human beings with feelings and emotions whether because they want to do it or not. Sure many have had problems yet others have not, some have chosen it as a career and pay tax on their income.

The term sex worker is, for me, not a term to be pc, it simply accurately describes their activities in much the same way 'accountant' describes my activities. I count things, others engage in sexual activity.

Those who are forced into prostitution either at the behest of others or because they see no other way need helping (and very often love and affection) and not putting down by demeaning labels.

Brothels are a different kettle of fish,although,if the man was truly disgusting and the girls protested, he would be asked to leave.
