A truth game

No, this isn't actually a forum game, just a curious thought I might share...

If you had the opportunity to stand in a room with all the people who know you best, and tell them that every one of them must tell you the absolute truth, of how they feel about something they don't like about you, holding nothing back to spare your feelings...(oof that was tricky to describe )

Would you be brave enough to go through with it?

Yeah. I think it would be really interesting. I can handle hard truths, and my family and friends are good at dispensing them

Yeah of course I'd do it if there is some things they don't like about me then yeah let me hear them. There's always room for change. Always remain teachable is my motto

I'd do it because curiosity would get the better of me.

I can almost guess some of the responses.

Walk in the park, my family and friends have never held back telling me how they feel about me. Some good, some bad but all things taken on board.

No, why would I want to do that? My opinion is that hearing only the bad about yourself is not useful in any way at all and serves no purpose.

"No, why would I want to do that? My opinion is that hearing only the bad about yourself is not useful in any way at all and serves no purpose."

Correct.

And it presupposes that the information given will be bad.

I'm already comfortable with telling people where to get off when necessary.

Who knows, I might have something nice to say?

It's hard, isn't it.. listening to home truths. But sometime forceful people don't do it in a gentle way with suggestions and comments and to be quite frank... they make me go nuclear!

"Pointless. Everybody loves me. "

I ya.

I'm at the stage in my life where I can translate my parents to each other in a cheeky way and say the things that they would like to say but don;t or won't. It's exquisite watching them squirm

So the question is not in the question itself, but in the questioning of why ask the question?

Profound...

I'm about as honest as they come. No sugar coating, no bullshit and I expect the same in return.

So yes. It would be fine

I'm at the age where I pretty much know my faults and my virtues and I've lived long enough to know that they almost balance each other out...which way the balance tips depends on whether you like me or not. Other peoples opinions of us aren't useful taken in isolation.

That's me. I could totally do it as I surround myself with honest people. The sort of people that would tell me my faults anyway with promting.

I suppose it could be described, as briefly placing yourself in a 'The Intervention of Lying' type scenario.

I'd not be worried about doing it as I know what they think butility I'd much rather say nice things to be honest. Too much negativity about already.

I'm well aware of my faults and bad bits already.

No. I am who I am and people need to take me warts and all, I'm not changing to fit their requirements.

And then they'd probably ask for the same in return and some people really don't take anything other than positive feedback well, however well meaning and constructive it is.

So I wouldn't want to risk upsetting anyone unnecessarily.

What about you OP? You posed the question but haven't told us your perspective

I'd do it out of curiosity more than anything. And I don't think anyone is more critical of me than myself so I'm sure I could handle it.

Also what one person perceives as a bad point another might see as a good character trait.

Take intelligence for example, a lot of people feel threatened by it and see it as a bad thing while many will see it as a good trait.

No I wouldn't. What would be the point? The people who know me best are the people who love me for what I am including my flaws.

I wouldn't participate in the equivalent the other way round either.
