Who makes up these days? Really!?

The serious answer is pretty much everything - I have a roof over my head, food on my table, money (not much) in the bank, reasonable health, people who love me, a job, a car, lots of modern home comforts.. etc etc etc

What's not to be grateful for?

Other than the lack of shags off here obviously ...

It would have been my nan's 100th birthday today (she died a few years ago). She was a really bright child but had to leave school at 14 to go into service. I'm grateful that I was born 70 years later, in a time where girls have so much greater opportunity in life, educational and otherwise, and that she did such a great job raising her son (my dad) alone that I've never wanted for anything important in my life.

Enjoy the shags you get and don't get grumpy about the ones you don't.

exactly I was just teasing but that's actually good advice! Too many fret about what they don't have rather than what they do!

I don't know who came up with this day (as you asked) but I think that's the point of it.

Too often we don't notice it (whatever the it is for you) until it is gone. Too often we focus on the absence of something rather than the presence of something else. Value what you have.

Today, I was grateful that I am able to walk and, at this time, I'm relatively sane. 24 years ago I wasn't able to walk and I was definitely less than sane.

I gave my grandchildren a little lecture along those lines,a couple of days ago. Children, and adults, don't always realise how good their lives are, compared to what some people are living.

Tell me about it well they're kids ain't they what they don't realise though is some people don't have these luxurious pleasures what we've got there's people struggling to even get them daily needs things like food water etc I'm even grateful for electricity in my house because some people don't even have that. Normally people tend to take all this stuff for advantage I say be grateful for this stuff someone somewhere don't have these things what we've got

I'm grateful for the lovely people who brighten my life. Mu health and wellbeing and enormous range of potential opportunities for me. My garden and plants plus the animals I care for. There is so much that's often silently taken for granted.
