Autumn equinox - The last day of the summer

What a jolly nice day it is and warm too, we have 22c and who would of thought it, the shorts is on. Today marks the official last day of the summer and the autumn starts tomorrow. The days will be darker and colder, how is the weather where you are and do you look forward to the darker days?

It's been Meterological Autumn (or Fall for our Transatlantic friends ) since 1 Sept, but I thought it was the Astronomical Autumn tomorrow (September 22nd?)

Either way the hours of darkness are noticeably lengthening which is always a little down heartening

Still not long until Chrimbo, woohoo

As Dan said, I thought the equinox was on the 22nd?

Anyway, I love the fall I get to wear sweaters and hats and put cinnamon in everything and have pumpkin pie and hot chocolate. It's my favorite time of year.

"I thought it was October when autumn starts? When the clocks go back? X"

Meterological seasons start as follows:

Autumn 1 Sept

Winter 1 Dec

Spring 1 Mar

Summer 1 June

Astrological seasons start around the equinoxes - within a day or so either side of around the 20th to 22nd of the same months.

The clock change has its origins in daylight saving farming (I believe) and are not linked directly to the seasons.

Ahh yes I thought so, so the farmers had extra daylight in the morning than they would of if the clocks didn't go back x

Date

2016 Sep 22 15:21:01 Europe/London time (+0100)

Description

Autumn Equinox Mabon/Harvest Home/Alban Elfed, on the autumnal equinox this holiday is a ritual of thanksgiving for the fruits of the earth and a recognition of the need to share them to secure the blessings of the Goddess and God during the winter months. The use of the name Mabon (invented by Aidan Kelly) is much more prevalent in America than Britain, where many Neopagans are dismissive of it as an unauthentic name.

It's something you feel and listen to on the whispers of the wind.

Its a soft calling that is deafning. Its an energy that flows to and froe like crashing waves on some deserted beach.

When it calls, read books...trade ideas with other witches. ...find your craft and strengthen it. Learn learn Learn....

Merry witching

I tend to feel low when the days get darker earlier. I don't want to put on weight this winter so I'm going to try to go out on the evenings I'm not babysitting. Looks like I'll be having a lot of winter sex for a change.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

It was a beautiful summery day. I had to spend most of it outside for work and did think that summer was having its last hurrah.

Saturday is looking warm and sunny according to the forecast.

Ive seen a few trees last couple of days

If reports are right the gulf stream is way off where its supposed to be we could be in for a harsh winter they are predicting snow in October and worse weather than the winter in the 60's not sure of exact year but temperatures of -20 and the sea froze how they can predict this so far in advance but they are not always right unless its the forecasters from formula 1 so on lap 15 we will have 6 minutes of heavy rain followed by bright sunshine
