In a word no. It's usually caused by too much oestrogen in the body and often starts at puberty when a boy's body starts to produce more testosterone. Too much can turn into oestrogen if not utilised and thus lumps under nipples and fatty breast tissue forms.

It can be caused by steroid use but it is not common. Normally caused by users who have too much body fat which can play a huge part.

Normally though it forms naturally in people who's body fat is high.

An episode of Doc Martin I remember once dealt with this issue & the man was unknowingly ingesting his wife's contraceptive pills (Cornwall has some weird water recycling set-ups).

But its really part of the wider issue of none of us really know what we're eating & drinking anymore & cause & effect won't escape any of us for long
