Vintage violet ray machines

We are about to replace our current violet wand with another 1930s German model. But, we were wondering if anyone has any experience of a modern solid state version. We are told that they don't compare but would like to hear what people think. Cheers

I've got one that comes in its own little suitcase but, whilst ancient, I'm unsure of the technological wizardry and specific vintage.
