giant spiders

anyone noticed the spiders coming into homes are getting bigger!!

Normally I can pick them up in one hand and put them back outside but over the past few weeks they have been huge, you need both hands to catch them and then problems opening door to let them back outside.

I would say including legs they can be diameter of a tennis ball and run bloody fast when you are trying to catch them

is warmer weather making them grow

Our spiders don't last long enough in the house.

We have two spider assassins who deal wit all bug and vermin related issues.

Yip. ...I have found a few monsters with the leg span of a giraffe....thought I saw one last night in my bedroom.....pulled out the bed and furniture and shook the covers within an inch of their life and still couldnt find it.....slept on the couch x

my cats are great at this but one has decided to keep bringing me her catches first

Not bothered about the size. But their speed is quick. It's like they've been training. the larger spiders are becoming more common though.

I think they are getting bugger too, they are terrorising us. Ive seen them when I'm on the loo, like they know I'm vulnerable half naked.

went for a pee in the middle of the night - one biggish and one large in the bath- so i 'got rid' of them - went for a pee just now and i think the big daddy had come out to find the rest of them - so i 'dealt' with that one as well - safe to say im wide awake now

Your in for a shock then if the reports iin the papers are right a type of spider has been introduced over here whether its come over in fruit or whatever but it is huge, I cant remember its name but its three times bigger than the spiders we get now so about the same size as a tarantula. I cant wait to find one in going to keep it as a pet lol.

When I see a big spider it becomes twice the size it was anyway thanks to my slipper. Can't do spiders,but it's the only way

It's mating season. We have a Charlotte. Not a huge 1, but in the corner of the bathroom window, made an egg sack, mini me is fascinated with them and we managed to film it when the tiny babies were emerging.

North Essex not far from Stansted is a fruit packing factory. There is a big population of huge buggers around there and it's spreading.

There are false widows around which look almost identical to the ozzie red back or american black widow, they are pretty placid.

I have been quite surprised by the number of people recently that have suffered adverse effects from spider bites from native spiders, causing quite bad necrosis of the bite area and needing hospital treatment...So no need to panic.

As far as I'm aware there are no poisonous native spiders in the UK... there is the False Widow, which might give you a nip but won;t hurt you seriously.

And THEN there's all these bloody FOREIGN spiders, comin' over 'ere in people's collections, hangin' about in zoos, waitin' for our kids!

I SWEAR that if one of 'em comes NEAR my daughter I'll do TIME!!!

Given the time of year it's because all the males are out looking to mate, they tend to be leggier so they can run away quicker afterwards rather than being eaten

I got bitten by one in a cupboard 2 years ago and got sepsis overnight. If they come in my home henry hoover gets then. Then i plug the hose so they cant get out lol
