Your entire set of tastebuds renew every 7 years or so. So things you liked or didn't can become more or less palatable

The blue whale has the largest tongue in the world.

The tube lipped nectar bat has the longest tongue in relation to body size for any mammal.

I can tie shoelaces with mine.*

*Not a fact.

The tongue is THE STRONGEST muscle in entire body. However, it is at the same time, one of THE MOST sensitive muscles as well.

Strong enough to push other people over the edge of 'things' sometimes

You cannot teach yourself to roll your tongue. It all depends on whether you have the genes to do it!

"You cannot teach yourself to roll your tongue. It all depends on whether you have the genes to do it!"

I so KNOW that one ...

I ASKED TWO PARENTS TO DO THAT - then asked their twin daughters ....

Who were my friends .....

I was about 12...... Parents rolled their tongue and kidos couldn't .....

And I said that isn't possible - that means ur adopted....

So everything went very still like a pin dropping moment .... it was something no one spoke about apparently ....

Don't think I've asked anyone again

Two false things above...

1. The tongue is not the strongest muscle. ..its the jaw muscle

2. Rolling the tongue is not just genetics it can be taught.

Your taste buds are not in grouped/zoned in areas around the tongue...you can taste diferent tastes in all areas. Try putting salt on the tip which apparently is traditionally thought to be the sweet zone

It's the only muscle in the body not cove_ed in skin which is why acupuncturists often look at it to assess your well being.
