Double vs King Size..?

I've always had a double bed but I'm considering getting a king size after a friend of mine planted the seed in my head... saying they're awesome!

What do you guys prefer? (Ie is it such a big difference?)

Hull but travel regularly

A double is only good for one person! King or super King if you want company and enough room to bounce around

Super King all the way. I so regret down grading to a King, I hardly fit in it. I'd be screwed ( And not the fun way) if I had to actually share the bloody thing!

We have super King, need one because otherwise shaggy's feet droop off the end lol.

We love it but the down side is finding bedding for it, not many places stock super king size and if they do it's really expensive

We just have a double, we have too much furniture in our room to have a bigger bed . Besides I love to cuddle at night and never had a problem with group sex on the double

Size does matter. A super king is great because you can get a decent distance apart if sleeping after...better for cooling off!

Just got a superking , love it, can really sprawl out. Ikea very good prices and come rolled up if access is a problem.

Depends on the size of the room it's going into. When we change our bed it will be 2 doubles joined together, but the room is 20' x 18' so why not...

If we lived in a modern house even our current king size may be too big.

But the bigger the bed the more people that can play in it.

We bought a superking immediately after having had one in a hotel. In one of our bedrooms we had it meant we couldn't fit in any other furniture, but even then it was worth it.

More room to play, enough room for us and both kids to share lazy Sunday mornings having breakfast-in-bed together and no jack-hammer right in my ear anymore...

You have to be careful buying bedding though, I think there is one of those British/American things going on: some places call superkings 'kings' and kings 'queens'.

My bedroom could probably fit a king size bed in it but I'm quite happy with a double... I still only sleep on one side anyway

King- being tall, I don't want to have my feet dangling out of the bottom!

Plus width wise, I have room to roll over to a cool patch without squashing my partner when he's home x

That sounds like you have a specialist, longer size. Ours is the same length as other beds, just wider. Dunelm Mill stock cheap bedding for ours

I stand corrected, Mrs ddc says it's 4" longer

(you can all make up your own jokes about how she knows what 4" looks like.. )

King size is a lot better than a double. But once you've had a ks you couldn't go back. I now have a super king which is brilliant when you've got more people in your bed lol

Central

I'm single and only king size will do for me now, after several years of use - but had a large double from childhood, so was used to space.

You'll feel more comfortable in a king - never constrained. And if too hot, you can move around. Space for visitors, if they must invade your quarters.
