Depends on whether it is stray or not, put a post card in the local post office window, check with vets see if they know if anyone has lost one, keep it and look after it or ring the RSPCA see if they will take it

RSPCA will probably be useless! We found a stray who's ribs we could see and rang them. They told us they would only come and get it if it was injured. Also told us not to feed it as this would encourage it to stay. Ended up taking the poor thing to a vet.

Sorry hijacking lol yes dont know if anyone remembers I was worried about him as he was still coming round in the winter so I took him to the vets where they sent him to animal shelter and they released him back here a few weeks ago. And hes been to mine for a feed every night since hes been back.

Take it to the vets first and see if it is chipped. Then ask them to put card in window also put cards in shop windows near to wear you found it. 9/10 cats are not stray but have gone walkies for some reason or other

Turn left at the Singing Ringing Tree

The vet is good advice, but make sure that you aren't liable for any treatment they may give the cat!

We bought a cat from the RSPCA, was originally a stray, paid £45 for the little darling. It ate, nearly non-stop, for two weeks and after that ........... it buggered off. Rang RSPCA and they said that it sometimes happens that a cat doesn't want to have an owner.

I think people worry about cats more than humans. My cat has been adopted by tesco and the customers, while i was on holiday two people phoned my mum up worried about my cat as it seemed to be "unwell" so mother goes scooting up to tesco. Apparently she had got a thorn in her neck and some man got it out for her. She is perfectly fine and no harm done but lovely that people care

my current cat was a stray. he was only a kitten and left in a bus shelter.

i noticed him every morning when passing on my motorbike and how this little cat was running around trying to greet people.

so one day i picked him up, put him in my back pack and took him home.

now he is the most ungrateful bastard ive ever met.

Please make sure it actually IS a stray before you start "helping" Someone is "helping" one of our cat's by feeding him (he really doesn't look like a stray!) and is actually causing him to be grossly overweight which we can't do a lot about if we don't know who it is.

Ask around the neighbourhood before you do anything. Ad not just a few doors either side!

must admit they are useless, reported the abuse on the cats by my next door neighbour and they did nothing, also if you feed a stray cat, as far as the RSPCA are concerned, you become the owner

Cats do not have owners they have servents

Cat protection League is always a good place to go to if you find a stray or injured cat and cannot or will not look after it your self,

there are also several websites where you can post details of lost or found cats to see if it matches

great to hear a great result in this case, i would be devestated if my cat Vanilla went AWOL
