9 days off

I've got 9 days off work from Tuesday and I'm trying to think of places to visit. They'll have to be day/night out type visits as I've got my sons staying over in the middle of it so can't go on an extended trip away.

Any suggestions for interesting places to visit or things to do within driving distance of Preston?

I guess it would come under sightseeing, thinking of quirky, out of the ordinary places that are off the usual tourist radar.
