Just had my renewal and the excess has gone up to £250 compulsory PLUS a voluntary excess. What is your excess like?

250 isn't that bad we have a total of £400 for one of ours and the premiums are still sky high.

Just renewed my car insurance. Cheeky buggers had added a voluntary excess to the compulsory one - told them to take a flying leap. So my compulsory excess is £250 instead of over £400 that they wanted.

So my annual premium has increased by £20 for doing so, but worth every penny.

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

I`ve been on a voluntary £250 excess for some time now, but I got my annual quote from Tescos this morning. I`ve been with them for around 7 years now and my insurance has been between around the £150-200 mark for either my `82 Range Rover or my current `94 Discovery. This year it`s gone up £90 to £322, so I did the confused thingy and got it for £218 through Saga. It pays to be an old fart at times!

Tesco Car Insurance was highlighted on Watchdog this evening. Three drivers had thought their insurance had automatically renewed and had received letters stating that 'no action needs to be taken, as it would be automatically renewed'. Yet Tesco had passed it all to a third party to deal with and it had not been done. One lady had been a customer for 5 years.

They had all been driving around with no insurance and only found out after being stopped by the police for having none. That's 6 penalty points on licence, £200 fine (I think) and car impounded. Luckily they were able to prove that it was an error on Tesco's part.

Saw a bit of that.
