Agreed!

I'm big on astronomy, even though my telescope isn't the greatest. It puts things into perspective how small we are, how nothing we do matters in the grand scheme of things. Humans and all our endeavours will be a tiny blip on the timescale of the universe. I think it could be round. Like the earth, go in what you think is a straight line and end up behind where you started. Surely it can't come to a dead end, or is it just ever further expanding....so many questions!!

That and I like looking at the moon

Also managed to get photos of Jupiter and a few of its moons using an iPhone held steady over the telescope lense

I want to know what the atoms in my body have previously been part of. Part of another person? a blade of grass? dinosaur poo? Ideally I want science to discover that atoms contain 'memory' and for there to be a way of extracting and deciphering the information. That would be awesome, in the original sense of the word.

Incorrect.

Answer is: we don't yet know. We can't see if there is an edge as the light is rushing away from us, and when people talk about the 'edge' of the universe what they should correctly talk about it the edge of the *observable* universe.

Short answer: We do not know if the universe is infinite or not.

The is 'doughnut' shaped universe is one of a number of competing hypotheses (multiverse, branes, the universe as a hologram, that it is explained if you treat matter as waves rather than particles...), even if it is favoured by Homer Simpson.

Not quite right...the light is not rushing away from us...we are looking into the past and can only see as far as the point where light has had time to travel to us. And expansion of the universe creates a horizon beyond which it will never be possible to see.

Something to do with the Portuguese for quince, 'marmelos'. 'Apparently' marmalade was originally made with quinces.

the science questions are great, theories often backed up my mathematics/observation...

we wouldnt have got this far today without the physicists, biologists, inventors etc..

people take that for granted.

My 64k question:

plants mimicking insects...

evolution is the 'answer'(when you read about it) but somehow I have to fathom, that there is some kind of observation that must have been made.Yeah sure they might mimic the feel of the insect..but the colours?

I posted about an article about organisms being quantum machines(via BBC science), it goes on about the photosynthesis etc, being a quantum process.

My theory is, everything we class as alive has a consciousness that could be vastly different to what we perceive..and I'd say it could be highly likely we are pond scum to something else.
