Are you a "couldn't give a flying fuck" kind of person or are you the kind of person who sits there masturbating (not literally...having said that, I think some may do) over the thought of the latest bit of technology being released?

I see the latest Apple iphone thingy has just been released and it got me thinking. What is it that gets people salivating so much over bits of plastic and metal? A bit of plastic and metal that'll be usurped by a "better" bit of plastic and metal in six months time.

Me personally I couldn't give two hoots about having the latest this, that and the other but it seems some do. Which camp do you fall into? Why are you so interested in having the latest stuff or not as the case may be? Genuinely interested in why this is so important to some people. It's a phenomenon that's really grown over the last 10 or 15 years and I can't say I understand it.

I never get any gadget on release. If and when I get a new phone I always go for the previous model as it's always cheaper and usually free to upgrade. I don't need a gadget on release money in my pocket is always more important

I'm in the, 'couldnt give a monkeys' camp. I just can't get excited about phones and gadgets.

As long as my phone / tablet etc works and does what I need it to. That's good enough for me. When it stops working, I'll buy another one.

Hmm. I think I'm somewhere in the middle. There are some technologies that I really get interested in, and some that I couldn't care less about. Phones and anything from Apple falls into the "don't give a shit" range. (Btw, I just noticed that my phone automatically capitalizes "apple" as if it's a word that exists first and foremost as a corporate name ).

Anyway, I once did lots of research about the international phenomenon of electronic waste. Apple has played a big role in creating tons of electronic waste (because it comes out with new gadgets all the time and makes millions upon millions of phones, tablets, and laptops trash every year with new versions coming out on a daily basis). Electronic waste has many harmful chemicals but also used lots of precious materials. So it often gets left to the poorest people around the world to extract these precious materials from the electronic waste with little regard given to the dangerous substances they are intertwined with. It's all really interesting if anyone wants to look into it a bit.

I'm trying to keep my Samsung S5 going as long as possible. I've got 2 years on it so far. Going to try and get a new battery for it

That is really interesting. I will look into that more when I get the time, though I have heard before of poorer countries (like in Africa) dealing with those precious metals.

That's kind of how I feel. As long as it works and does the tasks I want it to then that's all that matters. I don't feel the need to just have the latest product seemingly just for the sake of it.

My mobile provider has been stalking me for a year to upgrade. They seem to think I'm a little odd for thoroughly enjoying and approving of the product they sold me in the first place.

Might have a look at the new thingy though, but I have teeny tiny hands and don't like mahusive phones. Also, when my outfit doesn't have pockets, the phone tends to live in my left bra cup and, quite frankly, there really isn't much room in there!

Though technology interests me, some more than others, I just cannot get excited by say a new phone that happens to be 4mm bigger than the last model. I'm not going to queue up outside a shop at midnight for that!

It's only right HH that you be the one who's now managed to make phones sound sexy for me Can we now have 'phones in bra's Friday' or something?!

You're right though, some are ridiculously huge. I'm surprised more men aren't measuring their cocks against them!

When buying any new tech its always good to leave it a few months. This tends to sort out the errors and faults in it and gives the companys a chance to come up with a working product.

Apple is a fine testimony to this....so far, the last 3-4 phones have been rushed out with all sorts of problems.

Do i get something spanky new because i want it? No....i only get new if i need it

But then we can put it in comparison with todays societies. How many get a new tv, bluray player or bits because its new or because its better than their neighbours?

We live in a "throw away" society where its cheaper to throw something away than fix it. People in general have lost the ability to do simple things like change a fuse on the tv plug....rather than try a new fuse at 20p its buy a new tv.

This only reflects in spending habits and cultures across the globe.

.....think ive gone on a rant a bit lol

It is becoming a little like wondering about with an iPad squished to the side of one's head (other tablets are available) doing the bloody awful Dom Jolly "I'm on my mobile" sketch. (ps - good point about the measuring tool potential)

I think the psychology behind is is things hat have promise hey have not quite lived up to yet. once it was large things like cars, that changed and improved rapidly, now it is phones and tablets.

Nobody is quite sure what they want them for, or need them to do, but there is a promise that they are evolving so quickly maybe the next one will do it.

Also i should point out apple users got all excited about intergrated apps, large screen sizes, better wifi connectivity....i upset my sister when i pointed out Android has had those options for years

But then is that down to commercial markets? Branding or other?

The price of some headphones is ridiculous. I was just reading this morning about the latest wireless earphones you'll now need for the new iphone. All sounds like a bit of a swizz to me.

Thing is, you really can hear a great difference in clarity of sound.

I paid £210 for mine but they have virtual surround sound, it feels like the people are actually talking outside of the headphones 360 degrees

not far from iceland,,,,,, tescos is nearer though :-) (near leeds)

The latest top secret development from Apple Computer never mind the iPhone7...it has developed a computer chip that can store and play high fidelity music in women's breasts.

The iTit will cost $499 or $599 depending on speaker size.

This is considered to be a major breakthrough because women have always complained that men stare at their breasts but do not listen to them.
