Beeston

The walk along the city walls is good, lots of photo opportunities from there.

Then there's the Jorvik centre and The Dungeons as well if you want a dose of history.

little house on the praire

You will love York. There is the cathedral which is gorgeous and you can go down by the river. Youve got all the little streets in the centre with architecture and cobbled pathing. You have the museum which is really worth visiting as its done out like a street of shops down stairs. Then you have the jorvic viking centre. That should keep you going for two to three days lol.

Not sure of the name of any eating places but they do have some nice places and if you get board the cinema is right in the middle of the town(if its still there)

signed York tourist board

Love york!! things to do....dungeons are great fun and right by the river for a nice walk after, having a walk round the shops etc and seeing all the old buildings in the centre as well. There is also a fudge making place that you can go see fudge being made and sample! Would also go on one of the ghost walks as well in the evening as good fun!

Food wise there are loads but my 3 favs are bistro type places, ate o clock, cafe no.8 and limehouse....google any of them and will come up.

Trip advisor also gives good places to eat!

havent been to york for years, but from what i can remember, there are supposedly 365 pubs in york,so spoilt for choice for a meal n a pint.the cuty center itself is thriving with lots of little shops, the shambles is beautiful, and in the evening, take in one of the many ghost tours, great fun as well as edicational

just remembered there used to be a pub which has some Roman remains in their cellar area which you could see via a mirror along one wall.

York Minster is well worth a look, as well as the Castle Museum and there's some great views if you walk up to Clifford's Tower.

Also lots to see by the river.

Enjoy!

You will want to walk along the Shambles, a street with over hanging buildings some of the date back to the 14th century

The weather forecast for the weekend is good so you will be able to take your pick of all the places mentioned previously . The railway museum is free and this week it is Japan week so lots of activities etc . ( can't believe I'm discussing steam trains on a swingers site !!!! ). Lots of lovely pubs ,more expensive by the river . but try the Living room just over lendal bridge and sit on the balcony overlooking the river ,and just round the corner their are major restaurants like Jumbo's and Akbars . You will enjoy your stay and York is relatively safe in the evening.

Will sound like a right geek now, but it is a really good museum! and even better a cracking real ale pub round the corner (the maltings I think?)

xx
