Oh wow, what camera are you using? (sorry, photography nerd hehe!) I love getting up early in the morning and trawling a dewy field looking for insects - got a dslr and macro lens for the job, but finding proper creepy-crawlies is a cold and frustrating task haha! Jealous if you have coccoons in your garden :p

No they arent in the garden,, i bought the caterpillars online and grew them indoors.. Google 'Insect Lore'

its kept my 6yr old amused for a while :D

I have a Nikon bridge camera, but i am making a Summer Holidays scrap book so thought it would be ace to put pictures of these in there

That's brilliant.

You're going to need a lot of patience or a time lapse camera.

Hope they all hatch ok..

They'll be hungry so something sweet to hand and they'll be dopey for a bit so you should get some nice pics.

might be talking out my bum here but some cameras allow you to set a long shutter speed that works a bit like a time lapse ?? Love photography but still learner

There is a brilliant exhibition of insect photographs at the Oxford Museum of Natural History at the moment. We could have afternoon tea at The Randolph afterwards...

Insect Lore...

think you can get them cheaper on Amazon or Ebay. The kit arrives with a pop up tent.. then you have to send off the voucher inside (or do it via email with the code) to receive your cup of Caterpillar's

Mine all hatched and left. I cultuvate a little patch of nettles in the garden for the butterflies. Twice a year I get to see the caterpillars chrysalise and hang out a while whilst their wings form. It's amazing. It never fails to make me smile.

I work in a school and they've also done this. Little plastic boxes all over the place.
