Samsung phone nightmare

My two month old Sameung Galaxy 6 didn't much enjoy the swim it had when my water leaked in my bag.

Tried all the usual things, a week later it was turned on with only one problem: it keeps flicking into split screen mode and is unusable because of this.

Samsung have told me today at it needs a logic board, screen and power unit and quoted £315!!!!!!

Daylight robbery? Wonder if it really needs all of that and could I get it done cheaper elsewhere? The warranty is void anyway because it was water damaged.

Is it one that falls under their recall for exploding batteries?

Isn't it cheaper to just get another and put this one for recycling?

If you have a USB mouse, get a micro USB adapter for pennies off your favourite internet auction site or river based online store. Plug it in Nd you'll get a mouse cursor on the screen, use that to get all your data off or backed up.

Then you can smash it to bits, or go to a phone recycling website. You wont get alot but it'll offset some of the cost of the new phone.

Do you have accidental damage or personal possessions cover on your home contents insurance? It may be covered and you could get it repaired or replaced x

Interesting. I might try your mouse idea. Will recycle it. Seems such a shame, it's otherwise immaculate

Take it to a local repair shop, the one I use for my little ladies (they're always breaking their iPhones) gives me a free quote and inspection, it was 1/3 of the price of the Apple store

Possibly a bit late now but if you ever drop your phone in water bury it in a deep bowl of rice.

The rice absorbs most of the water and can in alot of cases help save it before too much damage is done.

watch a youtube video of how to replace the part yourself and if you feel confident that you can fix it yourself then just order the spare part off ebay or summat. won't cost you hundreds.

When I knackered my S5 they quoted 280 to repair but it was only 138 to pay off my contract so I did that and got an S7 Edge instead. Might be worth trying that too rather than the heavy repair bill.
