Mk3 Escort estate, 1100cc base model, so basic that the radio only had one speaker! It also had one rear seat belt which had been fitted for the previous owner's disabled daughter.

That poor little engine worked so hard that the heater warmed up very quickly so it was quite popular with friends in the winter months

A 1955 Series 1 Land Rover, probably still the most reliable car I ever owned. Great fun in the sun (soft top off, doors off, windscreen down), not so much in the rain (individually operated wipers that went soooo slowly and always out of synch with each other). Push the big red button to start it - good thing. Impossible to lock the doors - not so good. Overall happy memories though

I liked that cute little car until winter hit and i realized the "heater" was crap! My dad caught me wrapping a blanket around myself while i was driving it so he helped me buy a mustang soon after!

Lada Samara was my second ever car, crap acceleration compared to my fiat but once it hit 70 it would happily keep at that speed no issues, really liked that car.

A valiant effort going up hills with 67bhp

Would pretty much go to the moon and back on £20 though!

An N reg burgundy Citroen AX! I used to drive it to Uni before I passed my test, much to my instructors disgust! Then I crashed it in a car park, drove it into a volvo trying to park it! Wasn’t a mark on the Volvo thankfully!

Have gone up in the car world to my beautiful BMW Coupe that I now drive!

1970 Mercedes 230, straight six - my dad sold it to me in 1979 for £1000 (every penny I had) and it was a total rust bucket - so ripped of by my own father. Was great fun (for the one year that I was able to keep it on the road).

My parents bought me a yellow VW polo for my birthday as soon as I passed my test at 18. It was a bag of shit, kept cutting out!

My then boyfriend stuck yellow duck stickers on the rusty bits. He rode around in his father's Rolls Royce! I was soooo embarrassed

There and to the left a bit

K reg (first time round) Austin Traveller (estate version of the Austin 1100) - had an electronic ignition that you had to use in tandem with the key otherwise the steering lock came on while you were driving (only did that once!!) and the rear seat back would fall back into the boot bit at random moments

A VW Beetle 1303S

Hubby bought it for me, (pre being hubby).

I loved it, he hated it as it was always breaking down.

Mind you, I managed to ruin the engine in his last week when it blew up on the motorway.

It’s at the garage looking poorly

Pulled a 4 door Consul Classic from a local little river someone had nicked it and dumped it there found the owner told him it was in a river he said if I wanted it I could have it.

Cost me £5 to pull it out a £1 worth of fuel to get it going nothing wrong with it apart from a dented wing which I pull out.
