"Surely the health, safety, security and welfare of sex workers should be top priority? Your wording suggests the punters are in need of protecting. The W.I did some research which was quite interesing. " Given that many sex workers are trafficked and forced into it, I'd say the welfare and safety of the sex workers is far more important than that of the clients.

"Should prostitution be legalised as it is the oldest perfession. If yes why I personally think it should but be like Holland and Germany.Have all the workers have weekly test etc. Just wondering your opinions as I think if someone is going to fuck a prostitute surely it all being a safe place is better then a dirty alley way or something I mean people are going to use them illegally or legal so surely legal is best. Also you no the girls are clean by the brothel being open and weekly tests etc. " There's no guarantee that the workers are clean x

If it works elsewhere, why can't they use that model over here.

"Good question. With people saying it works elsewhere (ie legalising the activity with standards to adhere to etc) in some countries I believe it runs the risk of increasing demand and potentially increasing people being trafficked for sex. I don't know enough about it but it's a tough subject as there are a lot of vulnerable people out there open to exploitation and sadly a lot of people willing to exploit for their own gain. " Demand is fairly static, I believe. But even if it increased, full decriminalisation makes it much easier to police trafficking. Sex workers are able to be more open and feel free to, e.g., contact the police without worrying about being busted for working in a brothel. Plus clients feel able to do the same if they suspect trafficking. All forms of criminalisation put the sex workers themselves at more risk of exploitation, because unsavoury types, organised crime, etc., can offer protection. The Nordic model (criminalising clients) has led to increased violence against sex workers for this reason. The safe clients have disappeared for fear of being arrested. The unsafe ones don't care as much. If someone's being forced to do any job against their will, they should be protected by the law. Forcing someone to do sex work is a form of rape, we should be working harder on the protections, not maintaining laws which criminalise the victims. Freely choosing to do sex work, on the other hand.. not an issue.

" What isn't legal is where more than one person works under the same roof as that then becomes a brothel. " Being paid for sex in a brothel is not illegal. It is only managing or being in control of a brothel that is illegal.
