I guess because it's the polite thing to say. "Keep safe" rather than "get assaulted".

Over 105 people arrested & 70+ hurt on Children's Day. Today will be carnage. Having lived with it in my doorstep for many years, would never go !!

Newcastle and Gateshead

i use to go.... but i use to stay by where the old school soundsystems were by westbourne park... rather than the huge venues down the other end by notting hill gate....

but if there were that many arrests on childrens day... doesn't body well for today

I totally agree to be honest it's getting worse and worse year by year and its such a shame that such an beautiful multiethical event is ruind by few silly idiots which seem to just multiply year by year

NW London

I went yesterday and didn't see any trouble. It was really friendly. There are a number of arrests each year but you have to take it the Context That carnival attracts over two million revellers. Besides most arrests are usually for non violent offences.

Don't think I'm going today but it'll be a good one.

I'm claustrophobic in large crowds...It would be a nightmare for me.

Been a few years ago and had a great time.

Is it strange that I get a lot of my news from the forums...I hadn't heard/seen the story about the number of arrests yesterday.

The arrests cover everything from d*unkenness and pickpockets through to the four stabbings. The stabbings are very regrettable but the other arrests would be in line with those on a Friday or Saturday night in many towns across the UK. Carnival will have more people present than those Friday and Saturday night numbers.

Me too I think. I love the idea of the music, costumes, dancing and atmosphere but I'd probably be panicky all day.

BBC London reported them this morning and throughout the day.
