Agree absolutely!

I've had surgery as a child to pin back an ear that stuck out (got hugely picked on because of it!) and varicose vein surgery! If there was an effective way (tried lasers) to get rid of thousands of angry looking thread veins i'd be there like a shot!

For many of us, our self confidence is affected very much by the way we think we look to ourselves and others. My squidgy boobs, jelly belly and veins are something I joke about occasionally - but if a had an unlimited budget than i'd be visiting a pt and booking the surgery like a shot!xx

I've changed something. I put it off for five years as I simply couldn't justify paying that amount of money for vanity.

In the end, I did it and it made a wonderful, positive difference to my life. It still grates with me that the media and their idea of what a woman should look like got under my skin though, especially as I don't do the nails/hair/teeth/tan/make up thing. I don't even wear heels!

Nope. I can understand why people have surgery to improve their confidence, but nothing short of a disfiguring injury would make me feel the need to go under the knife

Had my ears pinned back only last year...

It was strange feeling after I saw myself after surgery... I thought why did I have it done I've lost a piece of me lol.

But know I'm glad I had it done has made me feel less self concouis.

I did and have... i had weightloss surgery, excess skin removal on my arms ,legs and tummy, then finaly a designer vagina. If i hadn't ran out of money i would have loads more done too

Have you tried medical make up? (Or whatever it's called.) I knew a lady with a patchy skin condition and she used like body foundation and it totally disguised it and made her feel so much better. x

Nearly everyone who knows me seems obsessed that I should get my eyes lasered, personally I quite like the option to be a specky geek if I don't fancy a contact lenses day.

I've tried a 'leg make-up' recommended by a good friend on Fab. It did make some difference - but my veins are purple rather than any kind of flesh tone - so the effect was limited! I started getting them over 20 years ago so they're something i've just had to learn to live with! I just tell myself that there are people who deal with a hell of a lot worse than ugly thread veins!xx

I dislike most of myself enough to "consider" it. When it comes to actually paying for it, the time off work that would be needed for recovery etc - no, other things always end up feeling more important.

What I was trying to express was Katie Price having breast enlargement then reduction later or facelifts that clearly go wrong ,the comments on here clearly point out that in certain circumstances its a wonderful thing ,what prompted it was the news item yesterday on the guy who had the full face transplant in America and his remarkable recovery

I've considered a labioplasty but I don't think I'd actually go through with it if I had the money. I'd rather spend the money on some really good therapy and improve my self-confidence that way. As Topsy said above, I'm annoyed with myself for getting drawn into the notion that my sense of worth is partly dictated by my appearance.

I've considered a tummy tuck recently and having a boob lift in a few years time. It's the expense , time off and risk of something not going to plan that puts me off. It's not about hating something about yourself, it's maybe wanting to continue to feel attractive and good about yourself for as long as you can.

Having carried three pregnancies, the heaviest of which was 12 pounds 5, my middle pregnancy I carried twins the heaviest was 11 pounds 10 and all three pregnancies where delivered c-section I can honestly say my stomach and its muscles are well and truly fucked

I would love to get it fixed, I'm to much of a coward though

I've learned not to hate myself since "cosmetic " surgery was a necessary evil after a car crash. I don't necessarily love the way I look, but I'm happy just to be here.
