GBBO...is the BBC proving that they can raise the standard of tv, with a show that has an even distribution of nuts.

It's a technical challenge to organise the show, but what a show-stopper!

The production team scoff the lot. My daughters friend was in the second series so I was hooked from then. He dropped out of uni where he was doing his masters in engineering to bake!

I'm hoping the ginger lad does well. The two cry baby women and Salasie are already annoying me.

She does overthink things a bit though. Needs to loosen up and go for basics and do them well.

The reason why it's showing so late in the year was because of all the negotiations initially ...

and there is no real reason for them to keep that pottery thing and the sewing bee thing either now... as i am sure they were only showing those to keep "bake off"

It would be difficult to doing anything that includes competitive baking but I'm sure someone is working on coming up with something.

I think Sewing Bee has a better following than the pottery one. All of them fit well with the BBC's get creative web stuff too.

I'd like to see an version of Come Dine With Me, with all the bakers from GBBO, so the contestants judge each other's creations and have a natter around a large table, innuendo aplenty, soggy bottoms and disasters included as standard, which are a normal feature of both programmes anyway. Alcohol essential, loose tongues, drama queens, show offs, vegetarians, posh and commoners, multi national and film crews who are shown to adjust the oven temperatures when not noticed, as I'm sure is what often happens on Come Dine With Me anyway.

And the obligatory holding of the bowl upside down and over their head, when making a meringue to soft peak stage for every contestant.

I said I thought they'd stick together as a team. I doubt Paul and Mary will remain with the show.

I am sure the BBC commissioners are busy offering them some sort of deal for a show.

The obvious choice for Ch4 is to put Nadiya in as a Mary or Paul.

Did they? I make heart-shaped crumpets when I'm in the mood.

Meanwhile, to make it interesting, why don't you lot look ahead to what they're baking next week and do Bake Off-themed avatars every Wednesday?

actually... not surprised....

because channel 4 are considered a public service broadcaster... its not really in their remit to in effect steal a program from the other one (in the case of horse racing and F1... which have also made the leap, the bbc voluntarily gave them up )
